Oh, man could you just see that chain reaction?

Woot workers quit, FedEx business slows, layoffs happen right before the holidays, trucks orders for '06 canceled, UAW layed off as sales drop, unemployment rises, interest rates hike, people panic, retail sales drop, wrapping industry suffers, then it's the bow companies and scotch tape layoffs, Box companies suffer, more layoffs, interest rates soar, people stop spending on gifts, anarchy ensues, raining CATS AND DOGS, oh the insanity of it all because of woot. We need to raise the security level of the holidays now to RED so people buy all the woots and there won't be a woot-off.

Now I'm depressed...........LOL!

Ok, this is a two part post. Many should really pay attention to this one as it would be easy to get tripped up. And for godness sakes, don't ckilck the link and enter your paypal info!!!

I wrote to Paypal:
"I would assume this was a typical spoof. Since I work in IT, it was easy to verify, but I could see many falling for it. Shame that it happens. I am blind copying friends to make them aware as well.

For those that want to see how you know it was a spoof, just hold your cursor over the link for a second and it will tell you where it is actually directing you. In this case (http://mailsrv.dnssdr.com/horde/imp/.paypal/error.html) which then starts a java script on a redirect to capture your info as you log in to the real PayPal site.

After a quick NeoTrace, you can see someone in Beijing is a happy piece of Sh** and stealing you blind.

I get a lot of them too, and some are perplexing, they seem as if they're from someone I know. I'd rather miss one than open a bad one. It's the hardest lesson I've been able to teach my parents. They think they're obligated to open everything, answer every phone call. Oh well, it keeps Jason at the local computer shop in burger money cleaning up their computer.

I'm not sure how to take this post since it is a forum that I created and did not hand out invitations. Not that your not welcome, because all are and encouraged to post, but it sounds as if you are complaining about a forum that was created for off-topic of the product of the day and is being used exactly for that purpose.

This is why Woot created an "Everything Else" section

That's one of the codeslaves, woody. He's just grumpy because long threads with lots of info slow down the performance of the forums. Or at least that's what he alluded to in an irc chat yesterday. I think. I get confused easily.

I didn't get one? Not that I'm complaining, but I haven't even had GC check the PM I sent him 3 days ago. Sending PM's would take a lot of effort unless you had the code to the board. That's would take internal code and the wooters list working as a script file. I haven't done code in 20 years, but know how it's done. Woot should be able to shut that down in seconds.

How many people got hit?

Well crap. First I would buy the software for a site rather than using free code. Then I would suggest another course on writing code. Text is all we have and it's as fast as light. We can't store pics on their server so they are just refreshing a retrieval of someone else’s storage. Finally, with 100K people, what in the hell do you want! They aren't using OC3's for this site. And this is biased as I work for AT&T, but Level3 sucks. They are all about dark fiber, use lousy gear, and if it wasn't for Warren Buffet, would have gone under a LONG TIME AGO. Hell they don't even do tail circuits (T1.5's to the customers prem, or anything else for that matter) It's all co-location and peering arrangements.

just to get this thread back on topic....of random stuff....here's some lyrics for you

We're off on the road to Rhode Island
We're having the time of our lives.

Stewie: Take it dog...

Brian: We're quite a pair of partners,
Just Like Thelma and Louise.
'cept you're not six feet tall
Stewie: Yes and your breasts don't reach your knees.
Brian: Give it time.

We're off on the road to Rhode Island,
We're certainly going in style.

Brian: I'm with an intellectual, who craps inside his pants.
Stewie: How dare you. At least I don't leave urine stains on all the household plants.
Brian: Oh, pee jokes

We've travelled a bit and we've found,
Like a masochist in Newport we're Rhode Island bound.

Brian: Crazy travel conditions, huh?
Stewie: First class or no class
Brian: Woa, careful with that joke, it's an antique

We're off on the road to Rhode Island
We're not going to stop until we're there (Brian: Maybe for a beer).

Brian: Whatever dangers we may face, we'll never fear or cry
Stewie: That's right, until we're syndicated Fox will never let us die
(Please!)

We're off on the road to Rhode Island,
The home of that old campus swing.

Brian: We may pick up some college girls, and picnic on the grass.
Stewie: We'd tell you more, but we'd have the censors on our ass. (Yikes!)

We're off on the road to Rhode Island
We certainly do get around.

Like a bunch of renegade pilgrims
Who are thrown out of Plymouth colony.
We're Rhode Island bound.
Or like a group of College Freshmen
who were rejected by Harvard and forced to go to Brown.

We're Rhode Island bound!
