What is a C-Wire?
C-wire is an abbreviation for “common wire”. Most smart thermostats today that are Wi-Fi enabled or have a color touch screen may require constant power through a thermostat C-wire. This ensures your thermostat has a continuous flow of power to function properly. It is often blue or black.
Although Amazon Smart Thermostat is compatible with most homes, we recommend checking compatibility before purchasing.

Amazon Smart Thermostat doesn't have a speaker or microphone. For voice control, use a compatible Alexa-enabled device, like an Echo (sold separately), or the Alexa app.

You would likely need to purchase a C-wire if you have an older HVAC system or if you are upgrading from a normal thermostat to a smart thermostat.
