Specs
How much clearance do I need above my doorway opening?
Minimum of 5 inches from the top of your door (not the door opening but the door itself) to ceiling for our barn door kit to fit properly.
What is the door thickness required for this kit to work ?
This kit can work with any door thickness. Standard thickness doors which are 1 3/8 to 1 3/4 inch doors, there is no customization needed. For thinner doors you will need to cut the provided carriage bolts. For doors that are thicker you can counter-sink the A-corn nuts into the door. Alternatively, you can also purchase larger bolts from your local hardware store.
2''- door depth - trim depth
If your answer is 0 or greater, then you're fine. If your answer was negative, then that number is the extra spacing you need. This extra spacing is accomplished by bolting a header board to the studs, and then the rail to this header board
Is a header board required?
When the studs do not line up with the pre-drilled holes (16” apart)? For this instance, you will need to attach the header board to at least 2 studs.
IF you have a door trim anywhere in the opening you will need to attach a header board of the same thickness to offset that trim.
