Bulb needs to be in pairing mode before being added to the hub. Element bulbs work best when they are within 120 feet (35 meters) of the hub. This is under ideal conditions; obstructions, building materials, electronic interference and a variety of other factors will impact the actual distance the bulbs can be from the hub. In wireless mode, the hub needs to be within the Wi Fi range of your router
