Installed on a Harbor Freight engine hoist
By David B on Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2021
As noted in the question section, this will fit a Harbor Freight 2 ton hoist. However, the Torin ram is slightly larger in diameter than the Harbor Freight ram. Because of that, the boom will not retract quite as far as with the original ram. Function is fine, this is mainly a stowage issue. Picture shows the boom fully retracted. I also was not sure whether the ram was shipped full of oil, so I topped it up. It definitely took a bit to get it full to the plug level, but I'm not sure exactly how much I put in. I also did an air purge before trying to operate the unit. That all went fine, although I had to go online to refer to instructions (no instructions arrived with the unit). I do like that it has a screw-in oil plug as opposed to a press-in rubber one. The unit was also not packed well enough to withstand Fedex/UPS shipping. It was actually falling out of the box on the porch, and the driver rang the bell to let me know. There was no apparent damage, but maybe that's how the instructions got lost, who knows. In summary, no harm no foul on any this, but these are a few things to be aware of.

Almost 300 pumps to full extension
By cplmac on Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2023
It's a beefy unit, lets get that out of the way right off the bat. Like most hand pump rams this thing takes FOREVER to extend, so long I decided to count and with the ram already extended almost 4 inches it took 257 pumps to reach the red circle on the cylinder that indicates the end of safe travel. Now that red circle is a really nice touch that I appreciated. Also my cylinder seems to leak from the piston pump rod that goes into the base of the ram from the hand lever. The cylinder rod that extends out also appears to have a "slight" leak but not enough to hit the floor so I am not concerned about it. The paint job is ok and the cylinder surface is very nice. On the whole I would say the cylinder is ok but it's not something I would recommend to people above anything else in particular. I'd spend the extra $50 and get the air over hydraulic cylinder if I had it to do again.
