Classy feeder

Holds lots. Leaks slightly. Teflon tape on threads seems to work. All the birds drink from it, including hummingbirds!

... existing Perky Pet oriole feeder which has always worked fine - a very basic model
By Deb on Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2016
I purchased this to replace my existing Perky Pet oriole feeder which has always worked fine - a very basic model. But suddenly after 4 years of feeding orioles I have bees on my feeder. That is why I bought this new feeder - to keep the bees off. Unfortunately, where the base screws together it leaks, which completely defeats the purpose of the bee guards because now it is leaking all the way around and the bees just congregate there. I tried screwing it together really tightly, which seemed to work until the afternoon temperature heated up. As the inside heats up and expands, it creates pressure and then the liquid just starts to seep out where the base screws together. Also, once you screw it together really tightly, good luck getting it apart again to clean it. I purchased this same feeder a few years ago minus the bee guards - and I didn't realize I was ordering the same design this time. Guess what - that last one leaked too. The only reason it even gets 1 star is the perch design is nice and it IS an oriole feeder. But for me it is useless, it is just a bee feeder due to the leaking. I resent having to pay shipping just to send this thing back when it is totally dysfunctional. The bee guards work nicely and the orioles did land on it - so that's a plus. But the leaking is a total mess, leaks all over the ground and actually DRAWS bees.
