So much easier than our old pole vacuum
By Michele Gniewoz on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2014
We have a medium sized in ground pool (vinyl liner, not concrete) and had been using a pole vacuum for the last two years. We bought this to make our lives easier and to be able to have more time enjoying the pool instead of cleaning it this summer. First off, the vacuum came with a free storage caddy, which we were not expecting but were very happy to have. In just a few minutes my husband had everything set up and ready to clean our pool. We used the pole vacuum immediately after opening our pool this year, so the pool definitely needed to be cleaned but wasn't disgusting. As soon as my husband put the vacuum in the water, off it went. My favorite part is how it climbs the walls and scrubs the water line. Since purchasing, we have used this a handful of times. Having people over this afternoon to go swimming? No problem, just toss the the robot in the pool and he'll have it cleaned in no time. I only gave this 4 stars because it came with a remote control that is virtually useless and makes my husband angry. Other than that, this was a great purchase. I was turned off at first because of the price but it has proven to be well worth it. After the pool has been cleaned, you can feel the difference right away. We went swimming after the first cleaning, and you could feel the liner was squeaky clean. Very happy with this model and this purchase. Hoping it lasts for a very long time!

Its a love/hate thing

I went back and forth when trying to decide on a pool cleaner. I settled on the TurboT since I wanted a cleaner that had the scrubbers, but also didn't take excessive amounts of time to clean. My experience has been (5 months in): Handle direction Changing the direction of the handle after EVERY use is a nuisance. There are little clips that you need to push down before the handle will slide. The manual stats they will be stiff at first, but will become easier to use with time. 5 months on and they are still stiff - you really need to use a lot of force on it - it actually hurts my fingers since you are applying such pressure. Given the decision again, I would go with a different model that you didn't need to rotate the handle. Cleaning the TurboT There are flaps at the bottom of the unit which get stuck and stay open EVERY time I remove from the pool. Therefore you need to be fairly quick when pulling it out since all the junk it just sucked out will start falling straight back into the pool. The tiniest pieces of dirt/debris seem to affect their proper functioning which gets to be frustrating. Water edge cleaning Mine seems to rock back and forth off the wall when trying to clean the wall around the water line. Not really sure if this was normal - it just wasn't what I expected from the videos and reviews I had watched. Pool cleaning It really does a great job. My pool doesn't get terribly dirty, but this little bot goes about its business and has it sparkling in no time. Manuals The manuals are useless.I found better information on their website when looking in the trouble shooting section - you want to look at this guide for better operating instructions (eg. you shouldn't run your filter at the same time as your bot, always store it on its side so the rollers don't get flat spots etc). - Size: this thing is a little tank. I was actually quite amused when I pulled it out of the box. To me it is the Hummer of pool cleaners. Noise Very quiet. First time I turned it on I had my back to the pool and I keep pushing buttons waiting for it to start... it already had! You won't hear a thing until it pops out of the water. If nothing else, it will entertain your pets as it pops up to say hello. So I am conflicted. It cleans well which is the most important thing, but the points listed above also frustrate me. I would probably buy it again since I wouldn't expect the competition to be any better or worse, however I would get a better model. Hubby convinced me that it wasn't worth the additional money to get a remote, or the model where you don't have the change the handle direction after each use, but since I am the one dealing with it, I say worth the extra money.
