Good pliers, maybe I got a dud

Very good pliers, I’ve cut tons of nails with these with little effort but for some reason I cut a light fixture chain and it just snapped. I really don’t know how these broke because I the blades edge held up great and then the jaw snaps off on this fairly soft chain.
