Valvoline's VR1 Racing SAE 20W-50 Motor Oil is a top-tier choice for high-performance engines, both on and off the track. This premium lubricant offers exceptional protection and performance, making it a favorite among automotive enthusiasts and racing professionals alike. That is why I choose to use it in my 1977 Porsche 911. Pros: Superior Protection: Formulated with a high-zinc additive package, VR1 provides exceptional wear protection for critical engine components, especially in high-stress conditions. A must in the engines of classic cars. Enhanced Performance: The advanced additive technology reduces friction, leading to improved horsepower and torque output. This helps ensure the longevity of your car's engine. Optimal Lubrication: The 20W-50 weight grade ensures excellent lubrication across a wide temperature range, protecting your engine during extreme hot and cold conditions. Proven Reliability: Valvoline's reputation for quality and reliability is well-established, and VR1 Racing Oil lives up to this legacy. Smooth Operation: The oil's formulation contributes to smoother engine operation, reducing noise and vibration. Cons: Premium Pricing: As a high-performance product, VR1 Racing Oil comes with a premium price tag, admittedly their are other higher priced options out there. Specific Application: While it's suitable for a wide range of high-performance engines, it may not be necessary for everyday vehicles. Overall, Valvoline VR1 Racing SAE 20W-50 Motor Oil is a fantastic choice for those who demand the best for their engines. Its exceptional performance, protection, and reliability make it a worthwhile investment for serious automotive enthusiasts. This is why I choose to run it it in my high performance classic engines.

Great oil for older engines
By Fred Owens III on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2025
I've used valvoline oil in every vehicle I've ever owned. 40+ at least. Great oil. The 5 quart jugs in this situation did not seal very well when not upright. I couldn't find them at any nearby store, so I ordered them and they leaked. Everything was very well lubricated when I received them.
