You should not assemble this rack without a rubber mallet. A hammer will damage it, even if you try to use a buffer to protect the finish. It is plastic fitting into metal. The metal literally shaves off a little excess plastic as its being driven. It does require a lot of hammering to assemble.About 10 minutes after assembly, I heard one of the plastic connectors crack inside of the tube. While this seems like a nice piece, that one cheap part makes the whole thing cheap. I think it should be under $30 since it is a "throw away" item.There are two very similar parts so make sure you identify all parts and read all instructions before beginning.I actually like this rack very much. It is compact and clean looking. The tray on the bottom just nests so it can be left off if preferred. It really is too bad the manufacturer decided to use plastic connectors instead of something more rigid.
