Works Great !!
By Logan99 on Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2020
We purchased one in 2017 and used it continousley seeing that were full time RV`ers. Recentley at a new park we were staying at, had been there for over 2 mo. with no electricity issues. One day the power went out, thought it was the 50A breaker belonging to the park. It was not the breaker, even though it tripped. There 50A plug blew out, and burnt one leg on our surge protector. They replaced their plug, and bought us a new surge protector due to the damage. While waiting for the new one to arive we were still having electrical issues, triping the 50A breaker. When it arived I installed it. It worked as described. When I informed the park that there breaker was still tripping and they saw the surge protector on, and found out what they have to pay for it . They said to remove it until they get to electrical issue corrected. I informed them that if it was not there then they may end up with a much bigger expense to replace electrical componets in the 5th wheel. This item works as described. Very happy with it even if I feel it is overpriced.

Not rain resistance and goes Faulty.
By J. Barr on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2016
The product appears to properly function. So far the value is good for the price. I was using a more expensive voltage surge protector until it just stop working after just three years of use. With Camco its always a hit or miss with their products. I have been using this voltage protector on my current RV journey. The surge protector has been operating without problems, and I have been staying at RV Parks rated highly by Good Sam.The indicator lights are small and difficult to see during the day. They are very bright at night. Critical to retain the product card with the RV. There is a chart on the back side of the device, which is not easily accessible when the product is plugged to a pedestal. The bright yellow color screams I'm here. It can be secured by locking the outlet box. The key questions I have. "Will this surge protector actually detect a voltage problem and will it be a long lasting product"? I originally gave this product 3-Stars. After using it on three RV Journeys I have lowered my opinion of this product. The Power Defender is not rain resistance. A couple of thundershowers caused water to enter the component. A small amount of rain residue in the component caused the electrical wiring to short out. It will give false indications of voltage problems and chatter. Thus making the product worthless. At home I unsealed the device to determine the problem and find a solution. Two weeks after the thunder storm, I found corrosion and a thin covering of water on most electrical surfaces. Camco uses silicon to seal the back cover. Yet, they missed a good portion of the upper part of the device. I'm not going to sink any more money into these expensive voltage protectors. I'll try this faulty one out again and disconnect it during rain periods. Provided it works after drying it out in the sun. The bottom line, don't buy this product unless the price drops by $100. Originally, I gave this product three stars. I have been out three times on an RV Journey with the Camco Power Defender. On the most recent trip I discovered this product is not rain resistance. Water was able to penetrate into the component and short-out the electrical wiring. Apparently just a small amount of water will cause the defender to misread the voltage and indicate a non-existing problem.
