Six star amazing!Ordered yesterday: received today.I'm a 66 year-old male. I've been in a power wheelchair for 10 years from a severe case of Guillain-Barre syndrome that left me with a 45% total body disability rating. The GBS left me with about 50% of normal grip strength bilaterally and nerve damage and loss of strength in my forearms as well.A neighborhood teen has been mowing my yard for years using his lawn tractor.Just yesterday, a landscaping crew finished installing 150 feet of sidewalk across my front lawn and down the sides of my house. The walk is made from a combination of a pea gravel bed between staked, treated 2 X 4's and over 500 12 X 12 concrete step stones form Lowes. Red and white checkerboard pattern. I can now do yard work and not track in dirt on my wheelchair wheels.Well, it occurred to me that I would not want my yard boy riding the lawn tractor over my walkways so, after researching all the options, I bought this mower for HIM to use.Well, when it arrived this morning, I cut the box open to get to the charger and batteries so that I could have them ready for him. When the larger battery charged fully in about thirty minutes, I thought I would see how powerful the mower was with a brief test push.To my UTTER ASTONISHMENT and PURE DELIGHT, I was not only able give it a "test push," but, steering my power wheelchair with my right hand on the joystick and the mower with my weakened left hand and arm, I was able to mow my entire front lawn! The mower is TRULY that light and maneuverable! I'll get the back yard tomorrow - and not because the battery gave out but because my out-of-shape arm did. I have a 1,517 square foot house on a 5,00 square foot lot, by the way. When I removed the large battery immediately after mowing, I returned it straight to the charger. Not only was it not too hot be recharged, it was barely warm after mowing in 91 degree southeast Georgia summer heat. It was fully recharged in 30 minutes. It made less noise than my bathroom fan or rangehood fan and had plenty of power for my overdue centipede lawn gone to seed. For the wheelchair bound who have retained full upper body nerve function and strength this thing will be a snap - including the 20 inch model. I'm handling my 19 inch model with ease. For wheelchair bound users with even less strength than me, there is the 16 inch model.I can get by with the handle as is but I will be looking to modify the handle slightly to better suit my needs from the seated position in the wheelchair.NOTE TO GREENWORKS: I represent a tremendous market among the disabled for this mower. PLEASE consider making an optional handle configuration that is ergonomically right for thousands of potential users in power wheelchairs.By the way, no longer needing my lawn boy, I will easily recoup the cost of this mower in one full growing season. This thing represents a whole new ball game in cordless mowing and a near miracle for the wheelchair bound. SO FAR, I highly recommend it.Jay MorenoSt. Marys, GA3/16/2016I just mowed my lawn first time of the season. The mower is still going strong with no problems whatsoever.

SO MUCH BETTER THAN GAS

I bought this to use as a trim mower around shrubs and trees on my almost 1 acre property which has a bunch of fruit trees. I have a big lawn tractor to do the bulk area. But the Greenworks 19" is such a pleasure to use compared to a gas push mower. Never, ever again will I go back to the gas "Model T" mower. It was great in its time, but time has moved on.Lighter, quieter, cuts well, intelligent (speeds up automatically if going over dense or tall grass). It's really a joy to use.And by the way, that Greenworks has gone all out to offer other garden tools that run off the same battery. I just orderd the pole saw, and because I now have the battery and charger via the mower the cost of the saw was only about $100. Can't wait to tackle the branches.I can't speak to it's longevity, yet, but for now I am delighted.UPDATE: 5/13/2021. I was a bit disappointed with something on the mower. The mower has a "flap" to the rear that I presume is a safety device, making it more difficult to accidentally slide your foot under the back of the mower. The flap works fine going forward, but pulling the mower backwards it always added some resistance to my pulling. I did not like that. I decided to turn the mower sideways to examine it.When I did I found that the flap connection (a thin rubber piece) was substantially worn away. Keep in mind I use this mower as a "trim mower", it is not used as my main mower which is a tractor. So it hasn't been in heavy duty use. For the flap to be so worn is disappointing. On the plus side, a simple tug and the flap came off in my hand. Now the mower is just as easy to pull backwards as push forwards. It really appeared to me, because everything is so well engineered on the mower, that the flap was an after thought, possibly a safety requirement added to comply after the fact.I would still buy this mower overall, but am hoping they make some product improvement concerning the flap, both longevity and the ease at which it works when pulling the mower.
Mower Meets Most Needs

The mower arrived on time and was a cinch to put together. It's light, starts easily (glad not to have to pull cords anymore) and does the job. Adjusting mowing height is easy but there are many settings for lower mowing heights rather than higher ones. I've used the highest two mowing heights for my part-shade, New England lawn. Going lower would stress the grass. It doesn't have nearly the power that my former 6.5 HP gas mower had. It cuts the lawn just fine but I'm feeling skeptical about its ability to mulch leaves in the fall. Right now, it doesn't seem to suck up the occasional scattered leaves or mulch them very fine. I may be doing more raking of leaves this fall than I wanted to. I used to be able to mow most of it into the lawn. We'll see.It takes a half-hour to mow my lawn. The larger battery gets the job fully done with some left over. I agree with those who critique the skirt in the rear of the mower. I have to back up a lot to mow my yard. I suspect that this skirt won't last long from flapping back and forth as I go forward, then pull back.Because it's so light, it tends to bounce around a bit over even slightly hard or uneven ground. No big deal though. I vote for the lightness. Its hum is much quieter than my old gas mower.Overall, it's a good mower for ordinary grass mowing and for the price, especially when on sale. I'm so glad to be done with gas, oil, air filters, mufflers, etc. We'll see how it holds up over time. I wish it had easy fold-downable handles so it can be tipped on its side and stored very compactly during the winter. The EGO mower that I considered as an alternative to this one has a great system for this. But it was $200 more. Greenworks should consider this simple upgrade in handles.
I bought a Fiskars Staysharp Max reel mower (the apparent Ferrari of reel mowers) which I really liked the first time I used it

This just arrived today, and I felt compelled to write a review. Background: I have been operating a wide variety of lawn mowers since I was 12 years old, and now I'm 28. I just moved to a house with a reasonably sized yard, and my Scott's 14" reel mower which I used for the past 4 years wouldn't cut it (literally, it was getting stuck in the thick grass here). Subsequently, I bought a Fiskars Staysharp Max reel mower (the apparent Ferrari of reel mowers) which I really liked the first time I used it, but the second time out, the blade slipped and self-destructed on the cutting bar. Feeling dejected with reel mowers by now, I bought this GreenWorks electric mower. Why this particular model? While the GreenWorks 16" mower is by far the most well-supported in terms of positive reviews, I felt that it looks like a ridiculous children's toy, and similarly the 100% plastic GreenWorks 20" mower looks like a science project. Seriously, I would feel like such a dork pushing either of those around the yard. So I bought this 19" variant which still bears some resemblance to an actual push mower.Initial impressions: So the mower arrived today; here are the notables:-Packaging: This was 100% cardboard (not styrofoam or peanuts), which is nice. It took 30 seconds to assemble and required no tools (just hand-tightening a few knobs once the handlebar was extended).-Build: Overall great; great size though a little heavier than I expected. Metal where it counts (base, handle bar), but unfortunately still plastic on top. I would have easily paid another $50 even to feel the robustness of all-metal construction. And please stop designing your mowers look like they have a top speed of 100 mph.-Batteries: The batteries came half-charged, so if I wanted to, I could have tried it out immediately. One of the batteries is 2AH. This is totally pointless considering it is essentially the same size/weight as the 4AH battery. GreenWorks could just as well have not included this one. The other battery included is the 4AH. It cut my entire yard (consisting of 4 parts, each part being approx 30 x 40 ft), and the indicator says it still has half its charge left!-Operation: Fantastic! Very quiet, much quieter than other reviews would have led me to believe. Nothing like a gas lawn mower. Sound and volume are similar to a somewhat quiet box fan. In spite of the bizarrely dull blade, it cuts very well. Rolls smoothly and is ergonomic. My neighbor came by within the first 10 minutes of me operating it, and it looks like he will be buying one now too.-Potential improvements: 1) make the body all-metal; 2) don't make it look like a Mclaren formula car on handlebars; 3) omit the 2AH battery and charge less; 4) offer a bagless option which the majority of people will never use, and charge less-Bottom line: I would buy this again in a heartbeat. The quietness alone is worth the price. Apart from that, it appears very well-built and is a pleasure to use. I will update my review if my opinion on any of the above changes.

UPDATE 6/20/19: After almost 3 years, the batteries still work like new. Never a single issue with the mower. I also use the batteries with the weed wacker, blower, chainsaw, and hedge trimmer. I have 4ah, 2.5ah, and 2ah batteries, and they're plenty to get my front/back yard mowed, edged, blow off sidewalks/porches, and trim the hedges. I have zero complaints for any of the Greenworks products, they all still work like new.**REVIEW IS FOR 19" Model**ANYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT BATTERY LIFE: You're not supposed to keep batteries on the charger, this will destroy them. Charge and store indoors. Don't keep in 20 degree garage, cold temps kill them as well. Says it all in the manual. I keep my batteries and charger in the basement since my garage is detached and not heated.First off, this thing is quiet. I can now mow while listening to NPR with earbuds which I couldn't do before. Its also quiet enough to mow while kids are napping.. which alone is worth the purchase for me. The ONLY time I get anything done during my days off with the kids is during their naps.Coming from a traditional machine, it works 90% as well. No problems with cutting through thick grass if thats what you're worried about. I left my lawn for 3 weeks and this plowed through almost calf high grass without issues. It didn't bog down where I know my gas mower would have. When the battery is nearing empty, it would finally bog down in the thick stuff, stalling. I checked my battery and sure enough is was almost dead. Switched batteries and it was clearing forests. The quality of the cut is ALMOST as good, but when you measure the pros vs cons its no big deal. The cut doesn't have as clean of an edge or as good of a pattern as my Lawn Boy, but a roller could fix the pattern. Easily forgivable when you consider the tradeoff.Greenworks customer service is amazing! They sent me free replacement parts (for a trimmer) no questions asked via priority mail when I had issues. Short hold times, friendly people.Pros:- Quiet! I have 2 toddlers and can now mow during naps. I can also listen to podcasts.- No nauseating smell.- No trips to gas station at the last minute.- Light weight (easy to push uphill)- No winter maintenance / no repairs (carb work)- Great customer serviceCons- Not as nice of a cut, but darn close- No rear wheel drive (I think its an option for other Greenworks mower), but its so light, this is a wash.. I mow up a 20% incline with one arm.
Great mower!! I recommend getting a corded mower in addition for bigger yards

I bought the 19" back in 9/2015, and it is still running great with the original battery. I bought the Greenworks 20" corded previously (which I love!) but the cords can be difficult to deal with in certain areas of the lawn. There is an easy way to mow large areas with no obstacles with a corded mower. Internet videos helped me figure out how best to use the corded.I use the battery powered mower first to go around edges and obstacles. The smaller battery is almost useless. I think they should scrap that and just lower the price a little. I did end up buying another bigger generic battery and a second charger so I can mow more yard with it. The battery powered mower is quite a bit weaker than the corded as you might imagine. The corded will take down large bushes and plants if you tilt it back and start with the top. It has impressive power and is fairly lightweight. I live in Florida on half an acre and am mostly dealing with St. Augustine and a little bahia grass. There is a weedy grass in one small area of my yard that kills the battery motor pretty reliably. The mower is pretty quite like a loud fan really. It's only noisy when hitting thick objects and branches. It's nice to not have any fumes and almost no maintenance. I think I only sharpened the blades once. Also, there is no pull cord. Just push the button and pull up the bar. You can stop frequently for this reason to remove branches and pull weeds or even to drive over the cord safely. Because it is weaker than a corded, you might have to back track in thicker areas or in tougher medium. Also, when the grass is tall and wet, both mowers can clog easily. My solution is to open the side chute and put the bag on the back so you have two places for the grass to go.I recommend getting both battery and corded, especially if your lawn gets away from you frequently. If you mow all the time just for fun like Forrest Gump, you might only need the battery mower. I usually have to walk slowly with the battery power mower in the summer, but I can walk very fast with the corded. I am very happy with these mowers, but there is a learning curve with both.

Easy to push, very quiet . Simple to assemble if you call it assemble . Open the box , remove it. Attach the handle with the provided adjustable locking nuts and install the charged the battery..it comes with two batteries. One large one small. Press the start button first then pull the small handle on the push bar back . Some users confuse these two steps. It comes with a small bag or is set to mulch, and it has a chute of you want just blow the clipping out and away. I didn't get the amount of battery time expected out the first cut using the larger battery , but please know the grass was higher and a little damp. My use is primarily trimming and cutting the dog poop pen ! Great features like the folding handle for storage. No gas, no oil. Didn't experience any of the first time users concerns reported by others. I have a power sprayer from this company. It works off a power cord . It has lasted longer and work better than other brands I've owned. I also bought the trimmer. The batteries swap out very easily . The trimmer is very powerful! Quality seems very good . My wife and daughter are the primary " pushers " . I have a flat large yard and the main cutting is done by a rider. The grass type is typical Blue Grass Mix found in Southern New Engalnd. Update after about four cuts ...still finding the battery life short of what I expected. Oddly the smaller battery seems to last longer . I will try to contact the maker and see if it's something I'm getting wrong. Still a good purchase . Easy to push and powerful in high grass .

FANTASTIC mower! I love this lightweight mower but recommend that you may need to purchase additional batteries for a bigger yard. I use (4) 4aH and (1) 2aH to complete my mowing in one session. The lower handle on my 1st Greenworks mower sheared off at the lower connection. I called their customer service to order what I thought would be a simple, inexpensive fix. The company had no stock of this part and since my mower was under warranty, they sent me and entirely new mower, battery, and charger at no cost. WOW, talk about great customer support! I have had no other issues and the new mower appears to have a stronger, better designed handle than the first. I highly recommend this mower.

... yep it happened to me... all excited... put in battery, it started right up and died in less than a minute.. did it 3 times..i was sick to my stomach.. not sure what to do i pushed battery, and to my surprise it HAD felt all in, but wasnt.. after that perfect!π© Never charge batteries past full or youll kill them... full charge of bigger is bout 2 hr...other 1 hr.. i do in livin room or kitchen while im nearby...Also dont store them in hot areas, dont leave mower sittin out in hot sun while drinkin your beer... heat is an enemy..Also don't recharge till theyve cooled down .. another good reason to bring in the house to charge..Worked exactly as i expected.. a much lighter than gas yet a tad heavier than i thought.. i think just bout right for ease vsNot feelin like a dollar store toy..My 1/3 acre lawn ( lots of plant beds so not all lawn, but as hubby points out they actually slow you down)...has been takin an hr plus..this was 40 min even though its narrower ( i think bc lighter AND NO STOPPING TO GAS UP)I was more careful of debris But it happilyMowed my willow twigs along the way ..Easy to finish assemblyEasy to useI chose this for the size ( bigger than 16 but still easier to maneuver around all my plant beds)......metal deck.... REMOVABLE battery( holds 1 at a time btw)... some you had to plug the mower itself into charger...and getting the 2 batteries...All in all very pleased..bought a 3rd 40v 4ah battery that now i see i dont need lol..My battery was indeed 40 min, but keep in mind if grass is longer it can take more battery to push through... my plan is to do what i learned in m.garden class is best...keep longer ( to shade roots and slow weed germination) so twice a wk taking less off.. should be a breeze since this was so much quicker..Its june 7 2022... I WILL UPDATE!Been a week n a half... used for 3rd time today... lovin it..Takes me now only about a half hourSo just 1 battery.. so much faster bc its so much lighter, i dont need to stop to gas upAnd generous size bag..To mow.. will continue updates..I Think if you treat this as medium duty and dont screw up your batteries youll be happy with it... if you wait 3 wks to mowAnd try to cut it short ( bad for the grass and mower), or your chompin down weedy fields..prob not...π±π±π±π±π±
