and they always made superior tools. Well
By mark yohpe on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2017
When I was looking to buy a bench grinder, I noted the ratings of the various grinders on Amazon. Even though this model has a 3.9 star rating, I decided to buy it. I know the Delta name, and they always made superior tools. Well, I am not disappointed! This grinder is high quality, and operates with little vibration. It has good power for a 6 inch, and the variable speed is a very important feature in a bench grinder. I cannot understand why the ratings are not higher, since this is probably the best value for the money anywhere. I am very happy with it, and since it has a 5-year warranty (returns to Northern tool centers nationwide), I can depend on it to provide years of service.

Terrible Quality
By lunchboxtheman on Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2017
Absolutely horrible quality. Where do I even begin? TLDR - save your money for a better grinder. This unit wobbles and vibrates like crazy. I had it sitting on my carpeted floor after assembly and flipped it on in the living room just to see it go. My whole living room started to shake and my coffee mug on my coffee table some 10 feet away started to vibrate across the coffee table. No exaggeration at all - the whole room was shaking. Both wheels had very high amount of wobble out of the box. I spent almost two hours trying to balance them by rotating the washers (more on them later) and eventually resorted to using paper shims. I managed to get most of the wobble out but not all. It was only after getting the majority of the wobble out that I noticed that the wheels are not drilled concentrically. The holes for the arbor are off-center which results in the face of the grinding wheel pulsating and the wheel is off balance. That's something that cannot be corrected. It was more than just a little bit of wheel dressing could take care of. About the aforementioned washers - they're the most crudely made stamped pieces of metal washers I've ever seen. They aren't machined, aren't ground flat, aren't even close to being true and square. This isn't a $35 harbor freight grinder. There's no excuse for that. The tool stands don't attach square to the wheel. There is about a 15 degree angle between the face of the wheel and the edge of the tool stands. One side of a tool stand could be almost touching the wheel, and the other side is an 1/8" away. Both sides. The adjustment mechanism is crude and inaccurate. You can't get the tool stands that close to the wheel anyway because of the aforementioned non-concentric holes. Oh, and one of the carriage bolts wasn't long enough to get the instructed washer and crush washer on to hold the tool stands. I had to leave them off because the tolerances on this tool are so sloppy that the bolts don't even fit right. The cheap plastic eye shields don't attach firmly at all. No matter how hard I cranked down on the thumb screws, they would still rattle around like a tin can. One of the threads for the spark arrestors was completely stripped and because of this the spark arrestor never was firmly attached. The light doesn't stay in position... it's just too top heavy. The vibration doesn't help any with that. Also, the electronics that are used for the variable speed are quite loud. Like a big transformer. The noise wouldn't be a big deal on its own, but it's just one more thing to add on top of it all. And on top of all that, the manual is worthless. After 20 minutes of trying to understand the manual, I just looked at a picture of the grinder and figured out myself how it all fit together. The written instructions are vague and make no sense, and the illustrations are so low quality that they're completely useless. Absolutely terrible quality. Save your money and buy a better one.
