It works quite well

I build furniture in my spare time in my garage (12x25ft) which is also connected to the house utility room. For years I've wanted a decent dust collector for use in particular when I could not keep the garage door open while working. I purchased the WEN 3410 due to its solid reviews and price point. After a year of use I can say that it has made a notable difference in the level of dust in the air when using a table saw or sander. Mounted at approximately 7ft in height it does a very nice job of dust collection to the point where it can be clearly seen working. I was quite shocked at how much dust the filter collects and knowing that for many years I did not have anything in place. It is not dead quiet, but not on the loud side either. With a saw running or a radio playing it cannot be heard when it is running even at highest speed. The unit has a timer, which is helpful though I rarely use it, and a remote control which I almost never need to use as I can just reach up and turn on the unit from the control panel. The collector came with all of the mounting hardware, which I used to install the unit (by myself, though a helper would have made it a bit easier), and the filters were already pre-installed. It does require a 120v receptacle, which I mounted in the ceiling specifically for the unit. So far, I can say that the biggest drawback has been the replacement filters. The unit uses 2 different filters, a 5-micron outer filter and a 1-micron inner filter, which come in packs of (2) and for both packs the cost is approximately $65; not super expensive, but not inexpensive either. It is possible to clean the filters by using compressed air to gently blow them out, but they should still be replaced periodically, and if the unit is heavily used I would definitely recommend replacement filters rather than attempting to clean them. All in all I would recommend this unit for a small shop especially if there is no space for a dedicated dust collection system. It has made a real difference in the air quality in my garage when using woodworking machinery.

Seller isn't honest.

Sold as new but it had been used. I have no idea how many hours the unit was used but it wasn't new. Purchased this last year before my new shop was finished. When I finally opened the box, it looked like the filter had been used. The 1st photo is of the intake side of the filter and the 2nd photo is of the exhaust side of the filter. It is clear to see that the filter had been used. Disappointed in the seller. After I bought new filters and changed the filter, the unit works quite well. The noise level on high is acceptable and the airflow is fine for my small shop. The unit itself deserves a 5 but the seller deserves a 1.
