Exactly what I needed
By Ntombi A. Peters on Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021
My 25+ year old bedroom AC died an ignominious death, leaving me gasping for air in the middle of a Southern California heatwave. I must say, I was put out! Anyone would have needed relief, and I happen to have a medical issue that makes air conditioning a necessity, so I did some quick research, called around, and realized that no local places had the casement air conditioner I needed. Amazon promised to deliver it sooner than anyone else, so here we are. As expected, it fit into the same window arrangement as my last casement AC. No problems with installation, and my tears of relief didn’t delay things by too much. First off, let me say that coming from a super old AC that put out cold air and did nothing else, I was immediately struck by the comparative luxury of this model: a remote, temperature controls, sleep functions! Heavens, I really did enter the 21st century! I like it here. Being able to adjust temp and/or fan strength from my bed felt like the height of luxury, and the energy saver mode was clearly effective. I loved being able to turn it off as I left the house, but set it to turn on a while before I got home, so I could enter a blessedly cool room. It’s a bit weird for it to tell me when to clean the filter, but I am obedient each time, hoping to keep this machine in tip top shape for years to come. The remote is fine. I wouldn’t mind a display, like the one I have in the other room, but this has enough options that I can do what I need. It’s as loud as any other window AC, and no louder. I wonder if those complaining about the noise have ever dealt with window units. Maybe they’re more used to whole house systems? Casement units are expensive. This is a reasonably priced unit for the type.

stopped cooling after very little use. too expensive to repair. shame on Frigidaire
By S. Heard on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2024
This unit cooled the large space very nicely at first. It hardly used it for the first two summers I had it, just because I happened to not be home most of those two summers. So even though this unit is almost 2 years old, it was only used for about 30 days in total. It has stopped cooling. I followed all the trouble shooting advice from Frigidaire, but no luck. It just does not cool. I called Frigidaire for help or advice. They said there was nothing they could do and nothing they could advise. They told me to find an independent repair service and pay for repairs. The cost of repairs is far more than half the cost of the unit, so it doesn't make sense to repair if it is unreliable anyway. Shame on Frigidaire for manufacturing such a terrible air conditioner. Shame on Frigidaire for causing premature landfill accumulation. I will not buy Frigidaire again. Avoid this window air condiitioner!
