Lutron Caseta Wireless Smart Bridge

I admit, I’m not totally a geek or technically adapt. So, this may not apply to everyone. I struggled to get this to link to my WiFi. Definition: The modem is responsible for sending and receiving signals from the ISP, while the router disperses the signal to devices on the network. In a typical home network setup, the modem is connected to the router, which is then connected to each device on the network. That said, in my home I have Xfinity but I don’t have the Xfinity Modem/Router tower, I have a Netgear modem and I use Google pucks to broadcast the wifi signal in my home. This product requires you to directly connect to the modem to acquire your internal IP address (LAN - local area network). If you try to connect the hub to your router, it fails to connect or acquire your LAN even though the router is sharing your IP address. Save yourself time and anguish by connecting the hub to your modem and let it do its start-up. Then unplug it and then you can connect it to your router or though a splitter from your router. I gave the Lutron hub a three star because of the hurdles I had to go through to make it work. And, I had Lutron technical help to get there. After that hurdle, it works great and you can link any Lutron wifi capable product. I’ve never lost connection. Whereas previously I was using Kasa products and they lost wifi connection and while re-setting a Kasa wifi switch isn’t hard, you can’t do it remotely. What’s the purpose of a wifi switch or other wifi controlled item if it needs constant attention? I’ve never lost connection with my Lutron switches. Good luck with your Lutron hub. It just takes following the instructions to the letter.
