These are awesome!

I saw this or something like it on Ask This Old House and thought it would be perfect for our basement porcelain fixture lights with non-working pull chains that we don't feel like changing. Plus it has a built-in cover that looks much nicer than an exposed bulb. I had one fixture it wouldn't work in for some reason but that could be on our end. The others worked perfectly and it puts out a lot more light than the previous bulbs we were using. You just screw them into the bulb socket. Be forewarned that the light is a fairly bright white which was fine for our unfinished basement. One comment--it's great that you could hardwire these if you wanted but I think it's a real waste to include the hardware with every box. We're trying to be environmentally sound by using long-lasting LEDs here, but have no other use for the extra hardware and have to just throw it in the landfill. Of course the whole thing will go out eventually, but hopefully some of that can be recycled (?) I'll have to check.

The lens dry rotted after 3 years

This light worked great. After a couple years the lens cracked multiple times. I had purchased a couple of these. I don’t feel it’s worth the money because it does not hold up. These were installed in a. Closet.
