Great value. Worked well. Feels a bit heavy when fully extended.

The title of my review really says it all. For a cost that is in the range of a good quality hand operated tree pole saw/trimmer, it certainly accelerates the process. In a little over an of hour, I was able to trim limbs that would have taken MUCH longer with a manual tree trimmer. The assembly - For those familiar with chainsaws the assembly will be straight forward. Basically, all that is required is to attach the chain and bar to the end of the pole. The instructions are well-written (for a NICE change!), and the saw is packaged with the chain "wire tied" to the bar in the correct configuration. This small package containing the chain and bar is strapped to the pole in the correct orientation to make certain that the chain is installed to operate in the proper direction. (A chain that is installed in the wrong direction will NOT cut, and makes quite a bit of vibration when in contact with the wood.)Operation - Operation is quite simple, the angle of the bar is adjustable from straight ahead to an angle which allows the most effective angle for cutting. It also helps to take some of the strain off your arms by allowing the saw to more easily be partially supported by the limb you are cutting. It is necessary to be prepared to fully support the weight of the saw as the blade completes the cut, and the limb falls away. Results - The saw performed as expected. The smaller limbs 1-2 inches cut through quickly. The larger limbs took a bit longer, (as expected). With the weight of the saw pushing down on the limb (and taking some of the weight off your arms) it only took 5-10 seconds to cut through a 5-inch limb. The only real caveat is to be sure you can control the saw as the limb falls away. You don't want the saw to come all the way down and hit the ground, which dulls the chains VERY quickly. Of course, it goes without saying that there should be NO ONE in the area where the limb may fall, or anywhere near the potential path of the saw should it get out of control.I am nearly 72 years old, and of average strength for a guy my age, and I was able to feel completely safe in the operation of this saw. If you have quite a bit of trimming it is definitely worth the money.

See update at bottom. Probably Amazon's fault.

I was all excited after reading all the positive reviews on this thing to start trimming some trees. I should have realized what a colossal pile of junk this thing would be when it showed up with the staples removed, two pieces of packaging tape barely holding the box together and the box itself beaten to hell and back. Tears, holes, and the box contents barely hanging on.Alright, I got past that and found everything to surprisingly still be inside. I affixed the chain and guide bar, tensioned the chain properly, added some bar/chain oil, and grabbed my 50' 14 gauge extension cord. Plugged everything in, depressed the safety switch, and pulled that lever. Nothing. Huh. Ok.My extension cord has a light in the plug end letting me know there's power. Motor won't start on the saw. Change outlets. Still nothing. Grab my 25' 16 gauge extension cord in a completely different set of outlets. Still nothing.Drain oil back into bottle, slap on chain guard, and toss the saw in the corner. This thing is absolute junk. Don't bother wasting your money.Update: While putting everything back in the tattered box to ship back, I found there was already a previous return label on the box from somewhere in New Jersey with a "Ship to" address of the Amazon facility in Kentucky where my return label is also sending it. So it looks like someone in Jersey already had this same one that was defective, sent it back, and Amazon sent the same broken junk to me. Fantastic. Thanks, Amazon.
