Reliable water filter

I find this water filtration system convenient and easy to use. I have read some reviews that talk about inconsistency of how long a filter will last, but I live in a town that sometimes has sediment in the water (old pipes) so I’m not surprised that sometimes the filter will last longer than other times. It averages about 4 to 5 months. I feel much better about drinking water after getting the Aquagear pitcher!

Faulty filter? Used this brand for years and new filter tastes horrible and chemically

I've been using these for years happily and gone through maybe 10 of them. However, my latest filter even after flushing for 10+ minutes the water comes out tasting awful and like toxic chemicals. This has never happened before and usually flushing for the recommend 2 minutes leaves water tasting great out of a new filter. Not going to keep trying to flush it and taste it, I'm sure I've consumed something I shouldn't have already. It's not the tap water which tastes OK. Wondering if they changed manufacturing as I haven't had this issue in the past. Unacceptable quality control to send out an expensive filter that's making the water worse. Outside of return window since I hadn't installed it for a couple months since purchasing because I didn't expect them to send out duds.
