Lasted 3.5 Years in Full Sun
By The All-Seeing I on Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2019
We're on our second set of these chaise lounge covers; the first set dutifully and effectively covered our chairs for 3.5 years in full sunlight -- a more-than-satisfactory shelf-life considering their low price and high-end attributes. They form-fit a chaise and secure themselves through a combination of zippers and ties that anchor to the legs. In storm winds, they stay intact: Never when out of town did I worry the covers would blow off and the chairs would be exposed as they'd have been with covers that simply mold to the chair without tying down. After 3.5 years of unrelenting exposure to the elements, these suddenly tore open like paper. Not unreasonable, considering they withstood the full force of San Diego's unrelenting sunshine for nearly a presidential term. No doubt they would've lasted far longer had I put the covered chairs in the shade when not in use. Great covers and a great value at this price. - (Was this review of use to you? Vinyl-back fabric - leads to mold and mildew
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013
While the cover is attractive and sturdy, there is an issue I had not anticipated. I had this covering my lounge chair for quite some time while it was not in use, since the lounge chair cushion is too large to remove and store in the storage benches we use for the chair cushions. I found that rain and outdoor moisture is captured by the fabric, even though the vinyl backing prevents it largely from penetrating to the lounge chair cushion beneath it. This eventually leads to mold and mildew throughout the cover, and even on the inside of the cover. The mold almost transferred to the lounge cushion had I not caught it in time. The cover is now completely compromised by mold and mildew and I will need to discard it. It's only a year old. I will replace it with something that is completely vinyl. This is on our back deck which only gets sunlight for 4 hours a day. Not enough sun exposure, I guess, to completely dry out the fabric and inhibit the growth of mold? Something to keep in mind if your situation is similar. I also found that heavy rains would pool in the cover and penetrate to the cushion. I had to place chair pillows beneath the cover to "tent" it as another reviewer did, in order to make the water run off instead of pooling.
