Long and super heavy-duty

I have lots of electrical outlets in my garage, but they are all on the walls and often not convenient for things that I do in the middle of the garage... such as vacuuming out a car. With this ReelWorks extension cord reel, I now have an extension cord that mostly stays out of the way, yet reaches every corner of the garage and beyond. I got the 65-foot, 12-gauge version of the ReelWorks reel, and mounted it approximately in the center of the ceiling. That means it will go well out into my driveway if I need to power something out there. The construction of the cord reel is sturdy, and the product is fairly heavy. I used two strong lag bolts to attach it to an overhead joist -- other than the weight, installation was easy. I took the mounting bracket off by removing the plastic pin from each end. (A single phillips screw holds each pin.) I then mounted the bracket, and my wife and I held the reel in place as I pressed the pins back into the reel through the ends of the bracket. I have a high ceiling in my garage, but the female end of the power cord hung down to about the 6-foot level. I raised it a couple more inches so that it was more out of the way of any tall visitors, yet still reachable by my wife and me. The two photos with this review show the red ReelWorks reel on the ceiling of my garage. The cord pulls smoothly all the way out, and it's easy to lock the cord in place by releasing tension when the reel is in the middle of its ratcheting phase. In this way, it works like any other reel -- I already have an air compressor line on a hose reel, and the ReelWorks extension cord reel works exactly the same way. This ReelWorks extension cord reel works well and feels rugged and durable. I've had it for only a few days, but have the impression it will work fine for years. I will update this review if I have any interesting experiences to share.

Very good reel and cord but recently one of the plastic "pins" that attach at the swivel point on the bracket broke. Anyone know how to get replacement parts?
