Long Wait for an Excellent Grill, But Worth It
By thomas j. stewart on Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2025
Third Tru-infrared grill I have owned in the past 12 years. If you are uncomfortable assembling things , this is not for you. The cabinet assembles easily if you follow instructions. Yes, it is lighter weight than my previous Tru-infrared, but the ballast weight keeps it on the ground. The back is open, but I added a plexiglass back panel below the hot parts to keep dirt and critters out. The infrared technology is different than the previous design. The emitter plates are integral with the ceramic coated grates. This is not a drawback. With a five minute warmup, the grill got up to 600 degrees. It actually cooked 3- 2 1/2" filets one minute quicker than the old grill. Very even heat distribution. The outrigger works very well. I am very pleased with the grill. Yes, I would rather have a more substantial cabinet and sub-structure. but this is what they are now providing. I have installed an aluminum liner, as suggested, to keep grease off of the bottom of the grill's heating chamber and have great hopes for longevity. The Tru-infrared cooking technology is truly outstanding. I got an extremely good deal on this grill, but received NO information on delivery except a statement that the delivery service would contact me to arrange delivery. After two weeks, I called the Amazon help desk and was told the delivery was at least two more weeks out. The help desk person was very helpful. The grill was delivered last week, after a month. This is not a reflection on the grill, but on the delivery service.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!
By Mark L. Horvath on Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2023
LET THE BUYER BEWARE. I purchased this grill to replace my original Char Broil Signature three burner infrared grill. This is definitely not a replacement for that grill. I purchased this grill in error and cannot return it. Here’s the problem(s). 1. My original grill was made of relatively heavy metal. There was a large bowl housing the burner elements. This is made of a thinner metal. The construction is so light (cheap) that they actually provide a weight to be bolted to the bottom of the grill, assumable so it does not tip over should you load up too many hot dogs. Instead of a bowl containing the burner area there is a piece of flimsy sheet metal. 2. My original grill came with infrared elements (screens) with heavy duty cast iron grates that went over them. This grill only has infrared elements (no grates) so you actually cook on the elements themselves. It won’t take long for those to get nasty and rusty. They are porcelain coated but, in my experience, that coating doesn’t last long. I would much prefer the heavy cast iron grates my original had. 3. My original grill had an enclosed space (enclosed back with doors in the front) such that you had a nice compartment to place the propane tank in and extra accessories. This new grill has doors in the front but no back. Something the advertisement did not make clear. If I didn’t want a compartment I would have saved $75 and purchased the model without doors. Doors with no back… what good is that?? 4. To add insult to injury the lighting element (battery compartment and button) broke the first time I tried to install a battery. Unless I can find a replacement (Char Broil Website did not have any) I’ll be lighting my new grill with a lighter. I got my original grill for about $300. This grill, with cover, was around $500. The correct replacement for my original grill, with delivery would be $800 (on Amazon). Knowing what I know now I would either upgrade or shop locally. Sadly I cannot return this grill. On a good note I doubt this grill will last the 5 plus years my original Char-Boil did. I give it two seasons at best… that is if I don’t blow myself up trying to light the damn thing with a lighter.
