Excellent product when paired with the Kwikset SmartCode 914 Keypad Smart Lock (Amazon Key Edition)

I'm using this in conjunction with the Kwikset SmartCode 914 Keypad Smart Lock (Amazon Key Edition - Amazon Cloud Cam Required). Below is the review I wrote for the system package. Just a side note on the camera, it seems well built, it has night vision, and there is two-way audio. My review is for the Kwikset SmartCode 914 Keypad Smart Lock (Amazon Key Edition - Amazon Cloud Cam Required). This may differ greatly from the capabilities of the regular 914. I've only had this connected for a couple weeks and have had several deliveries in-home. This is a great feature considering package theft these days. I've been able to watch most of the deliveries and the delivery personnel do not step foot inside. They carefully reach in with the package and set it on the floor. The door is then locked when they shut it. My friends think I am crazy for using such a service, but the delivery personnel get a onetime code and the camera is watching them. I previously had the SmartCode 913 and this model is so much better because of the Cloud Cam integration and phone app. I previously didn't get the 914 because of the type of wireless it uses that requires a special hub (not WiFi). Luckily the Amazon Cloud Cam handles that. I am now able to remotely lock and unlock the door from anywhere. Alexa is also able to check the status of the lock and control it for me if I don't want to check my phone. Another benefit of the 914 over the 913 is dealing with access codes via the app and not having to remove screws and a panel from the deadbolt. That wasn't too bad, but it was not convenient. Sometime I do not even create codes for people - I just use the app to unlock and lock the door for them. I have a couple people that do work on my house from time to time and I trust them to be there when I am not home, but I prefer they do not have a code of their own. I really, really like that the app will notify me each time the door is locked or unlocked and when particular people do so. I now know exactly what time my daughter unlocked the door!

Multiple connection and security problems
By Mikhail Yelsukov on Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2019
I purchased this camera to pair it with MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener with a hope of using Amazon Key for the in-garage deliveries. I followed setup instructions but the camera would not connect to my WiFi network. I have more than 30 devices in my home network and at least half of them are WiFi devices of all kinds and breeds: Phones, Tablets, Android TV, Several Fire TVs, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Google Chromcast, Printers, Laptops, ancient Linux powered Alarm Clock (more than 10 years old) and finally MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener. I never had a single problem with any of those WiFi devices. So I assumed that it was a problem with camera. I contacted amazing Amazon Customer Service and they sent me a new camera as a replacement. While waiting for the replacement camera I did some research. I found out that other people had similar connectivity problem with the same router as mine (Linksys WRT3200ACM running OpenWRT 18.06.1). I also discovered that the camera does not support WPA2. It needs very insecure WPA to connect to the WiFi network. When the new camera arrived I tried to connect it to the router. Same problem. So I pulled an old wireless router from the closet and set it up, so the camera would connect to it. I tested the setup by connecting my phone to the new WiFi network. Everything worked flawlessly. Finally I was able to connect camera to my new WiFi network. The guided setup process started, camera is discovered, connected, then setup wizard told me that the camera was unable to connect to my network. Wrong!!! I could ping the camera and it was alive with a steady green light on it. I have a hypothesis that the camera relies on UPNP to open an input port on the router, so Amazon could contact the camera at will. My hypothesis is based on the fact that Amazon can remotely turn the camera on and off (another security problem). This will never happen on my network! I would never allow any device to open a wide hole in my firewall. OK. long story short: If you use stock (insecure) routers and if your home network is absolutely insecure (WPA and UPNP are allowed), then this camera may work for you. Verdict: returning for refund. I wish I could give it zero stars.
