Photonic Screwdriver
By Sgt. Draino on Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2019
The Q2 is definitely my favorite of the SOG Baton series. I also own the Q3, which I had high hopes for, but found the Q3 to be bulkier than I expected, and also had the problem of the handle sliding down onto the pliers when you try to use them (Q1 and Q4 have the same problem). But the Q2 is GREAT. I admit, one of the things that attracted me to it, is that it looks a bit like a sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who. Since it has a light, and literally IS a screwdriver, I reckon you could call it a photonic screwdriver! I really like the look of it closed, with the gear pivot. The light is decent, I love that it takes a common AAA battery. Twist to turn on. If you twist it just shy of "on," you can do momentary on/off by pressing your thumb against the side of the bezel. The screwdriver/bottle opener works well, and makes a satisfying "click" when you open and close it. The knife is a decent usable size, keeps an edge. With practice you can deploy and close the knife one-handed pretty quickly. Most people will not realize this is a knife, either. And if you hand it to them, it will take most a while to figure out how to open it. I have a lot of fun fidgeting with the Q2, opening and closing it, flipping it in the air, twirling it in my fingers. It is currently the tool I carry the most, and I definitely use it on a daily basis. I like it so much, when I thought I lost it, I had to immediately get another one. Then I found the old one! Keeping the new one as a backup, though. I love the Q2!

it was a nice thought...
By the howling tiger on Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2020
oh sog how rarely you disappoint me! this was a really innovative concept and a nice thought but overall will not be my go to for multi toll purposes... things i liked - this is a heavy (a bit heavier than expected), well built and durable tool. i feel like i could use this as a backup hammer in a pinch and, as per usual, sog quality hardness. the carrying case with magnetic closure and extra bit holder was a nice touch although i wish that also had a clip or other carrying means on it. the tools and bits included are practical and nothing overly superfluous. the pliers have a good consistency and spring action to them with a surprising ease of opening and closing. definitely is a sog quality product for durability overall... however, those good points noted, here's what i disliked, found annoying, or was downright disappointed with - not sure if this is was just mine but handle tools were incredibly difficult to pull out. the pen blade in particular really needed to be pulled hard to the point where i felt i might break a nail in the process. the unlock button for tools deploys them all at once (or at least you must pull all out in order to get to whichever tool you need) and that i found annoying and unnecessary. the bit side buttons (it seems there are two) on other end were... confusing to say at best. one seemed to either not work at all or was simply poorly made and rendered it unnecessary... the second 'button' i have to admit i'm still not sure of its function even after reading the instructions...aesthetic appeal as an accent maybe? the carry case and extra bit holder is again, a nice touch, but would have loved to have a clip or other carrying method on it. also (baton must be closed to store in there) when pulling out baton the case is so snug it automatically opens the pliers, more of an annoyance than a serious problem though... maybe i'm just being overly picky but i've come to expect very high quality and function from sog so this was a bit of a let down for me. overall conclusion, beautiful to look at and never hurts to have an extra backup multi, but for function and practicality my leatherman will be my go to.
