Chemical Guys Extreme Top Coat Sealant

If you have anything painted in the last YEAR don't go near this product. I painted my grill surround on my Jaguar X350 Vanden Plas to match the trim on the Supercharged XJR and Super V8 Trim. I did it on my last two XJ's as well and over 9 years, three cars and multiple paint jobs and weather and other conditions I have never had an issue of this magnitude. Here is the sequence that brought me here: 1) Painted the grill last March with Factory Matched Ebony enamel, 2) completed with 3 coats of 2K clear - the super tough clear that you must wear a respirator when spraying. It looked superb for 7 months, including daily 95 degrees plus sun. 3) performed a Griott's synthetic clay pad cleaning, am extensive polishing with CG V34 Hybrid Compound. 4) V38 Optical Grade Final Polish. Finally, I wanted to seal and wax all this with something and the Extreme Top Coat description sounded perfect. 5) After applying it, literally 10 MINUTES after buffing it off my paint cracked and checked as the pictures show. Bad enough right? Nope: I write their customer service and I am told "We don't know much about paint, but that's not our fault." If you don't have extensive PAINT knowledge why are you selling products to USE ON PAINT? Next email: "Paint and Detailing are TWO DIFFERENT REALMS, blah blah blah. "It is our position that we take no responsibility for what happened" Really? Everyone I showed this to and explained the sequence felt otherwise. And I persuaded them NOT to TOUCH CG products. Not so much because of this catastrophic fail, which is the single worst outcome I have ever experienced in 40+ years of obsessive car appearance care, but because of Chemical Guys cavalier attitude, inability to take ownership, and not even offering to make the situation better. I am glad that Amazon has been a boon to sales. I will spend considerable effort to make sure I let everyone know this episode. I will go well out of my way to tell this story and show pics, because not only did things go horribly wrong after applying this garbage to my paint, but the company apparently does not stand by their products. Just ignore the unhappy customer and go get new customers. Its the new business model, apparently. "We take no responsibility for what happened to your finish after applying our product" Instead of stepping up, saying "We aren't SURE how this happened, and it is unusual, but let us know your material costs and we will help cover it", or at the very least: "Here is a credit for some Chemical Guys products - please accept our apologies." NONE OF THAT HAPPENED. NOPE: My polite, diplomatic emails were responded to with arrogant, patronizing and egotistical disdain. Nice way to build a loyal customer base Chemical Heads. Perhaps you have been breathing your product fumes a bit too much. I am livid. I spend a LOT of time, effort and money getting my car the way I wanted it. I now have to strip, prep, prime, base coat, clear coat, and so on. I will never buy a product from this company again in my lifetime. Its not the unusual reaction my paint had. Its the attitude and the refusal to stand behind their product. UNACCEPTABLE.
