Very Cool Gadget!
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018
This is definitely a gadget that no one really needs. I doubt that any savings I achieve on my energy bill will ever recoup the cost -- but what the hell? This thing interfaces well with Alexa, allows me to check the temperature of individual rooms where sensors are installed, and reminds me to change my furnace filter. There is also a smartphone or tablet app that may be used to remotely adjust the settings. The way Ecobee averages the sensor temperatures takes some getting used to -- this thermostat does not just work off the temperature of the room where it is installed. After some fooling around, you get the hang of it; however. Where this kind of smart thermometer would really shine is if ones heating and cooling systems were adaptive and zoned. I don't care too much for temperature averaging, but for most heating and cooling systems that the average techie can afford, there is really no other way to handle it.

Read the honest reviews........then buy something else

***Review Update ***5/6/2019 - original review deleted. Super problematic; you've been warned!!! Literally, there is only two things that these thermostats do well: 1. Detect temperature at its fixed location 2. Detect the temperature whereever the sensors are located Along those lines, understand that many of the internal thermostat parameters depend upon accurate humidity readings. Major CONS: 1. Ecobee has been having server issues for over 8 months and cannot fix the thermostat and app connectivity (in the US at least). 2. The app does not read in real-time. 3. Ecobee has been unable to fix the software which controls the humidity reading. As such, the thermostat does not read humidity correctly even when you toggle the internal +/- corrections. Your actual humidty levels can be +/- 0 to 10% what it should be. 4. The thermostats ability to accurately read/interpret the indoor humidity affects your systems attached ventilator, humidifier, free cooling and several other VERY IMPORTANT internal features of the thermostat. **This means that these thermostats will not allow appropriate operation of your systems attached humidifier and/or ventilator. Depending on your actual indoor humidity, these thermostats will cause the humidifier to add too much water into the air (mold) or open the ventilator at incorrect times adding or over reducing the humidity in the air (mold/dry nose/allergens).
