If the instructions were consistent with and appropriate for what I received, I'd have given this a solid four stars. Why not five? Well the finish shows a few marks just from the less-than-rough handling required to mount the mailbox and it was, in terms of weight, surprisingly light. (Maybe less weight is not an reason to lower the score.) I tried to show the marks resulting from handling in one of the pictures. The unit has five mounting holes, but the included template for the holes to be drilled into the wall only shows three. This was not a big issue - indeed, might have been beneficial, as the two remaining holes could be marked once the unit was on the wall. Five screws and plastic wall anchors were packaged with the unit. Regarding the written instructions, I vacillated between three stars and two stars. The problem was that there were two different size screws (and anchors), but the instructions only covered one size screw..., only mentioned one size (1/4") masonry drill bit, the size appropriate for the smaller anchors. Moreover, the instructions talked about four screws, not five. Fortunately, I have another masonry bit that seems to be the appropriate size for the larger anchors and I was able to get the box mounted. Regarding the finish, if my wife wants it black - and she's pretty much said that she does - the marks won't matter and the matte finish will probably make it easier to paint.
