Incredibly well designed tool.

I am a huge multitool nut. This thing might just be my new highest recommended multitool. Great array of tools. This is going to beat my Signal as my EDC. It will also be a great companion to my Dual Force.Pros:Gearing the Pliers and integrating a bit driver into the mechanism and striking surface for the chisel when in a closed position. The ways to handle using and storing standard 1/4 bits I have seen yet.At first some of the tools felt narrow because of the locking mechanism, but that might actually add upsome bonus weight savingsCons:Wire cutters aren't replaceable.Unlocking mechanism takes up a lot of space which could have been used for bigger tools, improving handle comfort and reducing the cost of making a complex part. Some of thee tools are hard to pull out and could use bigger fingernail notches.Areas to improve:Integrated Phillips should be No 2 and not No1Saw and file could have been a little longer.Gears are slightly proudThe lock release mechanism needs to be simplified.I love the way by Signal has a flat design for the 1/4 bit. If that isn't a patent that style could be integrated for even more space saving. The bit holder could easily be modified to function as bike tire removal tools. There is room to sneak a cable cutter when closing the pliers even if it would only cut ends.If this just had an engageable spring open for the pliers it would be practically perfect.

Pretty neat multi-tool! Pretty sure it was used sold as new, though.

Before we get to the tool itself, the condition it came in was what left me upset. The box was seemingly un-tampered with, but the tool itself showed signs of use. I bought it new, but this looks like it was repackaged in new packaging. The tool had scratches and dings and other signs of wear in some places. There were fingerprints visible through the plastic before I even opened it (I dropped it out of the packaging onto my bed, just the tool, before touching it with my own hands, and my suspicion was confirmed... fingerprints). The bits had fuzz on them as if they fell on someone's floor and were picked up and put back in their holder (again, I didn't let this fall out when I dumped the tool on my bed). There was a sticky substance on the jaws of the pliers, and it was certainly not oil. It felt and smelled more like thick maple syrup that had dried for weeks. So I'm very wary of this seller now (Camofire), despite their overall positive reviews. (On further inspection, many of those reviews look like they were written by bots, haha)On to the actual product, though. It's alright. It has a bunch of cool features in a single, solid package. The locking mechanism is a little *too* good, but that's not inherently bad. What IS bad is the carrying pouch it comes with. That thing is flimsy and does not hold the tool tightly or securely. I'll definitely be keeping this thing in a different one.The bits are fine, but I'll be using a more complete set that I already have around. The pliers are solid and sturdy, and the various tools in the handle are all good. The standard knife blade is sharp, but not fine; I prefer my knives sharper but it's good enough for daily use, and I'm experienced enough in sharpening that I can make do when it dulls down. However, I'm really not impressed with the fact that when closed up, the handles don't align, and are slightly off-center. I expected better from SOG, even in a potentially pre-owned/used product. It doesn't wobble or bend, it's sturdy... almost as if assembled off-kilter to begin with. Can't tell for sure, but it irks me like no other. But in the end, it's about function, not fashion, so I'll be curious how it holds up.I gave this thing a decent test run after work today, and it functions fine, so I'll be keeping it. Hopefully my opinion doesn't change in the coming weeks while it really gets taken through the gauntlet on the job.
