Just doesn't want to work!

I have a lift master garage door opener with an orange start button this is supposed to be the correct remote, the product is very easy to program, however, it did not work when I programmed it. I was going to replace the battery but I had no idea what kind it takes because it's a nightmare to open it. I had to return it.
