working great with Orbi (mesh) and homekit
By Joe the Prof on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2025
Am using to turn my TV on and off on my Orbi mesh network and the Home app on my iPad (homekit). Initially it would sometimes not show up on the app and I'd have to do it manually. After a couple weeks it just worked and it is now three months later working great. Maybe automatic firmware update? Who knows? I just bought a couple more.

Paired the first time then never worked
By Joel Vandenberg on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2023
TL/DR: If you have a mesh network, avoid these. Especially if you are using homekit. I have the meross smart plug which gave zero hassles to setup. Bought these since they were smaller and wanted to use them where I have some outlets that are recessed and the others wouldn't fit. I use Apple homekit on a mesh network. Apparently, this is the problem but the thing is, I am not even remotely special in that way. If it doesn't support this setup, say that upfront. It says it has to be 2.4ghz and my wifi broadcasts both 2.4 and 5. They make no mention of this being a problem. First time around, they paired, no problem. Showed up in homekit immediately but then promptly never worked. Some other details: 1. The instructions on how to reset these is not accurate. You have to press and hold the button multiple times until you get to an alternating amber/green flash, not just once. 2. After resetting them, they won't pair again. I get an error with a code that I cannot find anywhere. 3. Here's the kicker... Now that they no longer work I can't remove one of them from homekit and I have found no solution to getting it off which is ridiculous. The 'work arounds': 1. They want you to use their app and create credentials. I shouldn't have to do that. I doubt that would do anything to fix the issue but why should I do that when I didn't have to for your other products. 2. Turn off 5ghz on your mesh network OR walk away from your house far enough so that you only connect to the 2.4ghz network... How do I plug it in? IT'S AN OUTLET. Turning off 5ghz on my network requires a 'hack'. Nope. That, and I have plenty of 2.4ghz only devices in my house that work just fine, figure it out. I read another review that says there is documentation from Meross saying not to use a mesh network but there is no mention of mesh in either the product detail page or in the instruction manual. Anyway, returning. Worse off than when I started.
