I Would Rate Higher If I Could

I don’t even know where to start! There are so many adjectives to describe how wonderful these lights are that it would be silly to try to list them all. We were looking for something much brighter to be the lights attached to the front of the house at the garage. In order to accommodate these lights, I changed out light fixtures that have a open bottom for better cooling and airflow. It was worth every penny for the light fixtures and the two bulbs that we put in! These two lights alone, not only light up our driveway, the inside of our vehicles that are parked outside, the front yard, and even to the point of a little past the corner of the house. These are simply amazing. A family member needed a new light in their garage, so I bought a second set of these lights. I put one in her garage, and I use the other one in my home office. I am about to buy a third set of these, to put in my wife’s craft room, so she will have much better lighting to work by, and take photos of her work for posting online. These daylight white bulbs are some of the best that I have ever owned, without being the corn cob style that I had purchased before. I don’t have any real issue with the corn cob style, except they are typically too tall/long. This makes it very difficult to put in a normal light fixture, and they would’ve actually been too long for the new fixtures I put up at the garage. These however, being rounded, fit perfectly. I have already recommended these two just about everyone I know, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking at this review to go ahead and purchase the bulbs. Here at this writing, they sell in a two pack for around $34.00 USD. This is cheaper than buying the best lights I had found before at the big box stores. NOTE: We do not leave these on 24x7, so they should last several years. 25,000 hour rating at 10 hours a day is 2,500 days or 6.8 years. This is what I expect to get out of the ones I have outside. The inside ones calculate out to around 11 years. If I get half this time from them , I still say, for what I’m getting, they are worth the cost.

Does not perform to the specs, and overpriced for the performance you get (see details)

Normally if I didn't like a light fixture I would just replace it. However when dealing with a couple "modern" recessed ceiling fixtures, I was left needing to find a different solution. You see, these fixtures were probably considered cutting edge in 1962... today they're just large metal boxes with pull down glass (similar to a flush bathroom light fixture). No J-box. In fact, I'd have to get one of those rafter to rafter J-box setups, plus sheetrock the hole left behind, match texture, etc. Eww.... So, the main issue is that the fixtures are not nearly bright enough. Sure, upgrading from the 75 watt incandescent to something brighter would HELP, but only moving to a massively improved light source could actually affect the room lighting adequately (180+ sqft rooms). That's where the SANSI 27W (250 Watt Equivalent) A21 Omni-Directional Ceramic LED Light Bulbs, 4000 Lumens, 3000K Soft Warm White Light, E26 Base (Non-dimmable 2 Pack) comes in. 4000 lumens is a pretty hefty bit of output for an E26 bulb. The A21 form factor is a little chunky, but it fit within the light fixture. The main issue is the SANSI claim of "omni-directional" light. All it takes is a quick glance at the product images and you can see that the SMD LEDs are clearly only on the top half of the bulb. In a down-firing application that may not matter. For me, though, the threaded base is horizontally oriented, with the bulb perpendicular to the floor. Not ideal, but the thought was that there was a reflector in the top of the fixture, and that the recessed box was painted white, so it may not matter. So, did it work? Sure, it's a light bulb. The color temperature certainly seems to be in the 3000K region. The quality of the light is flicker free, but with an unremarkable 80 CRI. As for the brightness claims... while I have a light meter, it's hard to know where you're supposed to measure from to validate the 4000 lumen claim. I do know that the light is more intense than some of my 18W units. It seems roughly comparable to some of my 23W lights... so, bright... but not 250 W equivalent. If I had to guestimate on the equivalent luminosity, I'd put it somewhere between 150 and 200 W. Not bad, but not what I expected for 27W. While "not bad" would normally be considered an ok selection, sight unseen, I'm having a hard time being happy with my purchase in this instance. Why? $20 per bulb, that's why. I feel like that would be a fair price if you got the advertised performance, but you don't
