Very little battery life *Oops, my bad*
By DLLeiss on Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2025
I am so disappointed in the battery life of my new Sun Joe mower. This is a replacement for the same model I had for years, which I loved because it is light weight & the battery life was sufficient. Although still lightweight, I barely get 3 rows mowed before the battery dies on this one! Why is that? I need to apologize, Sun Joe, and amend my review from 2 stars to 5. Turns out, it was the outside outlet I was using that was not charging the mower sufficiently, not your product. Different connection and it runs just as long as my prior model, which is awesome! Recommend for anyone looking for a lightweight, cordless, battery operated mower. Hope you can forgive me, Sun Joe!

Typically disposable landfill fodder, dead in 7 months... Don't buy this garbage heap.
By Eva Jung on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2021
Update: Just went out to use my mower after having it 7 months and it completely died after 3 minutes use. It says that the battery is full but won't even start. The mower has been used about 6 times. Worst major purchase I've ever made, especially since now I can't afford another mower. Guess it's the disabled lady doing 1/4 acre with the weed whacker from here on out. Thanks for your garbage, Sun Joe. You can't believe how angry I am. Companies should really stop selling us disposable merchandise that only lasts a few months just so they can maximize profits. If you want customers that continue purchasing from you, a quality, long lasting product is what you should be selling, not junk for the landfill. I waited a while to get a few uses out of it before posting a review. It has lots of pros and cons: Pros: -Very lightweight. I have a spinal cord injury so a regular lawn mower would never work for me. I can push it with one hand and even lift it if necessary. -It's a beast. It powers through some seriously tall grass with little effort. - It has a safety key so your kids can't hurt themselves. - The clipping bag is huge for such a small mower. - A full charge does my entire front lawn. (this is also a con) - It has 3 cutting height settings which are great depending on hot hot it is. Cons: (They're really big) - it takes HOURS to charge and you don't get much time out of half a charge. This means that my backyard, which is way bigger than the front can't get mowed until the hottest part of the day or that I have to take two days to mow the whole lawn. Using an extension cord takes even longer and I don't have outside outlets that the short corded charger will reach, so, I have to drag the big, dirty lawn mower into my kitchen and trip over it until it's charged. It would be much better with a removable battery that goes on a charger like most other household tools. -It HATES thick grass. It may be good with tall grass, but if you have a thick lawn, it stalls out and leaves a giant pile of clippings constantly. Better have a rake and some bored teenagers. Don't let the grass grow more than half an inch or you'll have a serious struggle and the battery life is shorter. Would I buy it again? Probably not. The charging time and it's struggle with thick grass extends the amount of time I have to work to several days instead of one, and because it has issues with thick grass, I have to mow every three or four days so that the mower can handle it. If you have a very small yard with thinner grass, it's definitely worth it, but it's not for serious yardwork.
