Top positive review
decent build and good buy
By SCN on Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2023
*Edit after a few months of use Upgraded review from 3 stars to 5. Sun Joe has won me over. I have a Portable Inflator (used more as a mini blower for my tools), mini chainsaw (trimmed 3 large trees), hedge trimmer, and 24v brushed drill the cost was very good on sale. I would definitely consider these budget/DIY mid starter tools, but so far the build quality and durability is impressive. The cost of the majority of their tools is very budget friendly and I would recommend them to DIYers that need occasional use and do not want to spend a lot more for Ryobi and up. Most of their drills can be had for 40-45 and even though they are brushed, they have been working very well for me. Having dropped my DeWalt atomic far too many times up high, it finally died forcing me to finish my project with the Sun Joe...it did very well including driving some lag bolts through a 4x4 post. I had recently purchased the sun joe hedge trimmer and mini chainsaw (which work great). When I saw this drill on sale, I grabbed it thinking it would be a good deal since I already had the batteries from their other items and who doesn't need a spare drill? As long as you know this is mid entry level for a home project here and there then this is a good buy. Especially if you get it on sale. Tape up the light, you will learn to hate it. This is definitely better than Black and Decker and a little below Ryobi, but more affordable. Remember, most of these tools are brushed and you need to compare them to other brushed tools which work perfectly fine. Brushed tools do spark, this is normal assuming the sparks are not shooting outside the tool. Pros:-Not heavy. Actually feels like a quality build, more sturdy than the Ryobi entry drill (brushed) -The sparks at the back are barely visible. I have purchased other entry drills on amazon and promptly returned them because sparks were literally shooting 2-4" out the motor. -Battery life seems very good. Cons:-The absolute worst feature is the built in flashlight, I hate this feature. The light only turns on when the trigger is pressed... it does not stay on for a timed amount 30-60 seconds like other drills. If you have to screw more than one screw it gives you a strobe light effect...

Can't even handle a single wall of drywall screws
By Pdxlad on Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2023
March 2023 Update: So I used this primarily to put up a few new drywall sheets using drywall screws. I noticed right away the the bit cam would occasionally come loose and required new tightening, but worse, even driving the easiest and least resistive drywall screw into drywall, if the board behind was too sturdy, this drill would not screw down flush and would just stop requiring me to extra work and either a hand Phillip's screwdriver or switching to my bigger drill. YOU REALLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, after all it's all cheap Made In China gears. I have a $250 Kolbalt and a Milwaukee drill as my primary drills, so I'm a tad spoiled. I bought this drill as an 'around the house' drill mostly because my Sunjoe trimmers batteries fit this drill. This drill is definitely made in China on a cheaper part assembly line. Head, switches and trigger all wiggle a little bit due to pore case, plastic part engineering, yet they all work fine, but dont plan on years of heavy uses. Torque and power seem okay and the Price is very okay.
