Great Mower
By Laura on Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2021
I have had this mower for a few months now, so I feel like I can finally write an informed review.Pros:- it looks like a normal mower, that may or may not matter to people, but I like what I'm familiar with.- It is quite. I no longer use ear protection mowing the lawn.- It is light, so my son that had a hard time manuevering an ICE mower has no problem with this. That means I don't even have to mow the lawn if I don't want to and my son wants some extra money.- I got a really good price here on Amazon and it came with this 6AH batterty, which is a battery with a lot of reserve. This battery will mow my entire lawn by itself if I don't use the self-propelled function too much. I have a 0.18 acre lot with a typical two-story 4 bedroom/2 car garage lot.- The batteries are interchangeable with the 40V Greenworks leaf blower and chainsaw I have. I had to use a backup battery I already had one time, which came in handy.- The battery has BlueTooth! I have never seen that before, but you can use your phone to get vital battery stats. Who knew that was even needed (it really isn't)?- Since it is light I don't feel the need to use the self-propelled function much, which is a good thing (see cons)- It srotes vertical, which is really nice when your garage is space limited like mine.- No Oil Changes, Spark Plugs, or Gas Needed!Cons:- If I use the self-propelled function on my average lawn, the 6AH battery it comes with doesn't do the whole job. However, The one time this happended was the first time I used the mower using the self-propelled funtion mostly the whole time like I used to do with my old ICE mowers. I realized with how light this is, you really don't need the self-propelled function except for hills, and I haven't had the battery run out on me since.- The blade isn't very substantial. WIth the old mower I ran over sticks and stuff, not thinking about it. With this I make an effort to make sure there are no sticks in the way. Some would say that is what I should have been doing all along.- This biggest issue I have, which I don't have much, is the self-propelled function is not good. I'm used to pulling the bar and off it goes instantly and being able to feather the speed. This has a bit of warm up and then full oomph lifting the front. It's like nothing, nothing, okay something, and then full speed. The throttle is adjustable via old school rabit/turtle slide switch, but I find it hard to find the sweet spot. Ultimately, I learned that I really don't need to use the self-propelled function much.I'll update this review if I have any break downs or broken parts.Edit: 1 year update, still running great. Wish I would have converted to battery a long time ago.

Glitchy mower with abysmally understaffed call center for Greenworks helpline
By in nature's heart on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2021
Worked fine the first 2 times I mowed my lawn. Thought I was going to 5 star it. The 3rd time it suddenly died with no reason. I spent the weekend trying to troubleshoot it and pristinely cleaned it up to return under warrantee, since it had just gone beyond Amazons return date. There is no good way of contacting Greenworks for problems. Monday I tried calling their only number and it would ring once then hang up. Tuesday I finally got through at 1:30 and waited on hold for 3 hours and 20 minutes! That's right, 3 hours and 20 minutes of torturous repetitive "music?" with a voice periodically reminding me what info I needed to have ready and what "position" I was. I was at position 2 for nearly 1 1/2 hours, and position 1 for an hour. The person I finally got was polite and tried to be helpful, having me repetitively take the battery in and out and try it, the same things I'd been trying for 4 days......and finally it started They did let slip that this particular model has had issues with the circuit card for switching. I am happy that the mower started (in my kitchen) but with days of rain I haven't been able to really try it out. I'll upgrade the stars if the problem reoccurs, but understand this if you are interested in purchasing any Greenworks products, don't expect a good experience with their customer support number.update....Mower again would not start.....not looking forward to another 3 hours and twenty minutes on hold to try to resolve
