Works perfectly! My wife and I share one charger
By Stevierose on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2023
I bought this in 2021 so this is my long term review. I have a Tesla Model Y and my wife bought a Toyota RAV4 Prime which is a plug-in hybrid. We have a Tesla home 240v wall charger installed in our garage. When she bought the RAV4 I thought that I was going to have to install a separate charger to use with her car, but I found this adapter on Amazon and took a chance and ordered it. We have been using it successfully to charge her car since 2021 without any issues, and just take turns using the Tesla wall charger for our cars. There have been no issues with it at all, it is well constructed and couldn't be easier to use. You just plug one end into the Tesla charger cable and the other end into the Toyota. Great solution which saved us at least $1,000 for a purchase and installation of a separate charger.

Fire hazard. Overheats and dangerous.
By JTWamazon on Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2023
I use my Tesla home charger to charge my Ford Lightning with this adapter. After a few months the adapter would overheat and cause the charging station to stop working. I would have to reset it. The adapter would be so hot that I would have to wear gloves to unplug it. It would smell like electrical wires burning. I contacted the company right away to get assistance. They would not acknowledge the problem. I asked for a replacement as this was faulty and very dangerous. John denied replacement. I would think because of how dangerous this can be with starting a fire they would want it back. I have emailed John and the company multiple times requesting a replacement. They refuse. I understand products can be defective but manufacturers stand behind defects. Unfortunately these guys do not. Do not buy this as it’s a fire hazard!

Works great on Bolt EUV

We were fortunate to have purchased a house that had had a Tesla charger already installed. Unfortunately, we couldn't quite swing a Tesla. While the EUV is a decent car and Chevy offers a free installation program, almost a month later it's yet to be installed. The wife and I work opposing schedules so we effectively have two commutes a day that adds up to 140 miles. A wall outlet was not going to get us enough charge to make it through the next day.As such, this little device has been a godsend. Followed the instructions about hooking the adapter to the charger for at LEAST 30 seconds before plugging into car. Once plugged in, it takes a moment for the car and charger to complete a handshake but it begins charging and will usually be fully charged before the evening is through. We don't remove the adapter and has worked great so far. Once the Chevy charger is installed, we plan to stow the adapter in the car so that way every charger station is now an option should we choose to travel with it.

The product works as described. So far I have been using it for my Leaf for the last couple months. It seems to have been made from high quality materials and looks great. The Tesla side of the connector is a little loose between the connector and cable, but no issues so far. Plugs and wiring are sturdy and should hopefully last a long time. Plugging the Tesla charger into the cord requires that you hold down the locking tab, which could be smoother if it the cord could simply slide into place and lock without additional intervention. Unplugging also requires a little extra force to remove. It is cheaper to use the adapter than having a separate high power charger and convenience wise it's not too bad. Also offers additional options for destination charging.

I have a free Tesla destination station by my work,it plugs in without a problem, very sturdy with a fastening clip.I arrive to work at 7:30 AM with a half-battery, by 9 AM I am 100% charged so I move my vehicle for another person to use the charger. For me, that is a game-changer, totally worth it.It will pay off in 3 months at the rate of $0.11 * 17.3kW * 365 days = $677.4,however, the fast charging is priceless!
Works with Tesla Wall Chargers and Tesla Mobile Connectors

For you Ioniq 5 owners (and possibly other Hyundai/Kia EVs) here are my findings of testing against Tesla Wall Chargers and Tesla Mobile Connectors.1) The Lectron "just works" with the Tesla Wall Charger. No weird problems, no heartaches.2) The Lectron has a bit of a problem with the Mobile Connector. After much, much testing I could never get the Ioniq 5 to report anything but "charging unsuccessful" with the Mobile Connector. After researching online its a "known issue" with the Mobile Connector but there is a workaround - after the Ioniq 5 announces "charging unsuccessful" get into the car and start it, charging will then proceed as normal, you can even stop the car and get out while the charging continues. If this is more hassle than you want to deal with over the Mobile Connector then maybe give the Tesla Tap a try. But its a very minor inconvenience and only with the Mobile Connector, if you don't mind the needed start-the-car step or if you're only going to use this adaptor with the Tesla Wall Charger, I'd recommend giving a look at the Lectron and say yourself some money.
Works with basic tesla charger - not sure about destination or super chargers

I bought this to connect my Tesla Destination Charger at work to my Nissan Leaf (2012) that uses J1772. The connection did not work, probably because the amps are mis-matched. Also, perhaps the Tesla Destination Charger needs to communicate with the target vehicle. The adapter unit worked great at home when I plugged by basic Tesla home charger (110v) to the unit and then into the J1772 socket on my Leaf. Also, my Leaf is old, so I don't know how or whether the adapter would work with newer vehicles and their charging systems.
Didn't work for me but reached out to the company

Didn't work for me but reached out to the company and they were able to solve my issue. They ended up sending me an adapter but the shorter one of this one and it works perfectly !!I use it on my boyfriends Tesla house charger to charge my Chevy volt. This particular one didn't work but the other smaller model worked for me...been using it for 6 months already and no complains. Make sure to read the instructions before using it, because you have to connect it to the Tesla one then wait 30 seconds for the charger to recognize and plug it into your car !

This works well, it's pretty big and long. It would be perfect if it was rigid but at a downward angle. In its current form it's just a lot to lug around
Simple & effective for charging a Bolt from Tesla Charger

The Tesla Wall Connector is a high quality device for charging our Tesla. (It's much better than the device that comes with the Bolt.) Wiring and installation, of course, were the bulk of the expense so we wanted to reuse that. When we added a Chevy Bolt to our home, we needed a new solution. The Lectron clicks into the end of the Tesla connector. Wait a few seconds for them to make friends, then plug into the Bolt or any other car with a J1772 connector. It delivers the expected 32A to the car and will charge it in a few hours. On the Bolt, a green light visible atop (not on the driver facing side) the dash will show it's charging so confirm that before walking away. It can stay on the cable until you next need it,. Or push the red button to break it away.It doesn't add much bulk or weight to the already bulky and heavy cable. Not a lot of instructions or tomfoolery needed. The two ends plug the only place they can plug and it Just Works.
