Philips Hue Desk Lamp

Very Awesome! With control app, any color, bright or dim- definitely helps the eyes not strain when watching TV when placed next to it. Has a crazy amount of light settings! These lights last also, not my first purchase- they are way better than the “new” terrible, cheapo, light bulbs that can’t even keep up with alternating current & Philips look amazing also. Can’t go wrong with these!!

Sleep Mode only allows <30min & light has trouble connecting via Bluetooth quite frequently
By Amazonaholic on Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2023
I purchased this after trying out a different brand that was half the price. I have preferred this one because of the dimming options, but the customization I want is still not there & the Bluetooth often has trouble reconnecting. This brand allows you to dim the light down to 1% which is very dark. I like this customization because I wanted a nightlight that started at a very low dim then continue to fade till off. The cheaper version I had previously purchased wouldn’t allow me to adjust the brightness when set on Sleep Mode and literally started at the brightest setting before fading way. So this brand was already better. However, Phillips Sleep Mode only allowed for 10, 20, & 30 min fade-to-off sessions. I could not set it to fade over 1-2 hrs and that’s a major downfall to me. 30 min is not long enough for my needs. Therefore, I was forced to use the timer function instead which doesn’t fade-to-off. So either I get the fade over 30 min with the Sleep Mode or I get no fade but can make it a low dim for a set amount of time on Timer Mode. I was willing to accept this downfall except I placed this light on a wall-mounted shelf which was a horrible place for it cause you have to manually turn it on/off since the Bluetooth often won’t connect. The app is supposed to give you the freedom to control the light (on & off) from your phone without ever having to get up and grab the light. However, Hue Go is consistently unable to reconnect to the app via Bluetooth. I constantly have to turn my Bluetooth on/off and close/reopen the app to get it to reconnect and even then, it often doesn’t work. I have to get up and manually turn the light off and back on to get it to reconnect. At the time I’m writing this review, I wasn’t able to get it to reconnect again and decided to send it back. To make matters worse for me, the button is also in a horrible place and not ergonomic for females or males with smaller hands. To explain, in order to push the button, it requires counter pressure on the front of the device (the flat side). Basically, my thumb is pressing the button while my fingers are placed at the front portion of the light (again, flat side). Well my hands just aren’t big enough to do that. I literally need both hands to get the pressure needed to push the dang button. Very frustrating. So because the light won’t connect consistently with the app via Bluetooth eliminating my need to manually control it, I will be sending it back. It’s very frustrating when you get in bed then have to get back up because the product you bought is subpar to how much you paid. I’ve only had this light for 5 days and every night but one, I had trouble connecting to it via the app.
