Eaton WFD30-W-SP-L Wi-Fi Smart Universal Dimmer

I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews on Alexa compatible 3-Way dimmers, and the majority of "issues" with them appear to be in difficulty of installation, connection, or operation, which of course contributes to complaints about either quality or design. This is the only smart 3-way dimmer I could find that works directly with Alexa and does NOT require a hub, it's own APP, or account with the manufacturer, so I decided to get one. In short, I believe this to be the best and simplest smart 3-Way dimmer out there. Time will tell in terms of longevity or durability, but after just a couple weeks I am nothing short of impressed. A few things from my experience with this switch you may find helpful: In order for at least the basic (non-smart) functions of the switch to work, it does have some specific needs beyond that of a simple 3-way dimmer: * It needs to be connected to a Neutral (white) wire. * The Common (black) wire needs to be connected to the primary source of power for the entire light circuit and therefore always hot. * It needs to connect directly to the lights. * It needs a distinct separate wire (commonly referred to as a Traveler - may be red or black) that goes only from this switch to the other one. While all that seems simple enough, the key is that they all need to be in the same box. In most homes one of your 3-Way switch locations will satisfy these needs, but there are those where they're not all in one spot (primary power in one box and direct connection to the lights in another, for example) and you'll need to determine what your situation is first. As with anything electrical, if you're not familiar with how to safely do that it's recommended you get an electrician. To allow the switch to work with Alexa, it should be in a location with a good Wi-Fi signal (I use 2.4 GHz for this as it's less sensitive than 5 GHz) and ideally not mounted in a metal box. Mine is in a plastic box and in a spot where my phone held next to it shows good Wi-Fi signal, and I haven't had any connectivity issues whatsoever since putting it in 2 weeks ago. To the folks at Eaton - I commend you for staying the course of unencumbered efficient and effective design in your products and not following the others to the "Dark Side" with their ridiculous ancillary equipment, apps, and registration requirements. Thank you!

These switches are no good - stay away.

After working for about two months, all three Eaton switches stopped responding. I tried factory reset several times and resetting my router. Alexa adds the switch OK, but says the device is not responding. The paddle switches work, just not through Alexa. My Kasa switches all work fine. I tried the customer support toll free number, the menu keeps saying it did not get my response. Bye-Bye Eaton. We are done. 2/27/22 Update: The Eaton Tech Support person immediately knew the issue. He claims that an Amazon pushed an Alexa update out that broke the switches. He says hold tight, they are working with Amazon on the problem. Its been 4 days now. I asked him if I will be notified when issue is resolved? NO, he was not able to do that. I have replaced all 4 Eaton switches with Kasa and they work fine. Now to get Lowes to refund my Eaton purchase 3 months for purchase, no receipts, no boxes...
