The threads on this fitting are not OEM

I bought this to replace a broken male connector for my Polaris 280. When I tried to screw it into the female fitting in the pool wall it would only go in about two turns. Upon removal and comparing it to the original broken fitting I was replacing, I determined the threads did not match. The threads do not align with the original OEM male connector. I returned this item and went to my local pool supply center and they gave me on that matched the threads on the original.
