ASD Wall Light Fixture

Once mounted it looks good and while it looks easy to install, there is an issue because of the design flaws. The included mounting plate has two bolts that the light slides onto, with a rubber washer and nut to secure. The first issue is the length of the bolts is about 1/4 inch too long, so that when mounted and nuts tightened fully, the light base is not tight against the mounting surface. The only way to have it tight will be to add a couple of thin washers under the nut. Either the bolts need to be shorted or the base about 1/3 inch deeper to, resolve this issue. The second issue is with the mounting bracket. The lights I’m replacing sat on a pancake junction box, but if you mount this lights bracket to the very thin pancake box, the light base sits way off the wall. So, I removed the old pancake box, to screw the mounting bracket directly to the wall. The heads of the mounting bolt and ground screw stick out from the back of the mounting bracket, preventing it from lying flat on the wall. I drilled shallow holes to accommodate the heads of the mounting shaft, and removed the ground nut. Such a waste of time. The people who designed this must never have installed one; it would have been very easy to fix. And a pain to install.
