I had some thick glass bottles i want to break up and melt in my forge. Even whacking them with a 2 lb sledge hammer couldn't get them to crack, but this got them to shatter with a few light taps, even through the cloth i put over to keep the shards from spraying. The conical tip converts the high force low pressure from the head to extremely high pressure at the point. basic physics, but effective.

False sense of security?

I’m supposing this item will work well on TEMPERED glass which crumbles into rock salt-like bits, but I found out after I purchased this hammer that my vehicle (2021 RAV4) has LAMINATED door window glass that has a tough plastic sheet sandwiched between two layers of glass just like modern windshields. For laminated glass you would indeed need a very large hammer to break it enough to escape a flooding car. AMAZON should warn buyers that many vehicles now have LAMINATED glass door windows and this product will not work. Instead, I think I’ll just keep a hefty ball-peen hammer handy…
