Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor

Philips makes good hardware and incredibly crappy software. The hardware works great, but it took way to long to set up. The Philip's app is junk. It first refused to recognize the device. I finally had to delete and then reinstall the app to get it to work. Then it recognized it and went 2/3 of the way through the setup process and hung. I closed the app and relaunched it, and the device was indeed present, even though setup had failed. I needed to set up SIX routines. One turned on the lights when motion was detected. One turned off the lights when no motion was detected. A third routine turned on the lights and disabled the second (turn it off) routine [using an Alexa "custom" action] so that I could sit at a table for more than 15 minutes. A fourth routine turned off the lights and re-enabled the turn-it-off routine. Finally, since the "works only at night" feature doesn't seem to work, I created two more routines that trigger at dawn and dusk and disable/enable the "turn on when something moves" routine. A lot of this could be built into the device & drivers, but it's not. Finally, making a device that goes outside your house reliant on a (relatively low power) hub is stupid. It should connect directly to the internet.
