Excellent product, but…

This shelf is excellent quality. It comes with great directions. It was packaged very well, too. I will highly recommend that you have mechanical skills and experience for install. Things to consider are levelness of shelf brackets and if the wall you are choosing for install is plumb. We had to add a couple spacers for ours. It works great. My husband is very good at this type of work. It was about a 2 hour install.We installed it in our little casita (my playhouse) to use as a work desk, a table for food, and extra counter space.

Whereas the unit is itself solid and functional, there are installation issues. The wood top is very hard and the screws need a lot of torque to drive them home. In fact more torque than the screws can stand resulting in rounded out cross heads. Secondly, the damper should have one end fitted with a pin and split pin. It's almost impossible to get a screwdriver behind the damper to tighten the second screws. I used one with a very long reach but not everyone owns one that long.
