Really Cool

I like these lights. I have 8 of them divide into a group of 6 and a group of two in my basement. You can control them with a regular light switch, but they work better with the remotes (sold separately) and work best with the app. It should be noted that if you use them with a traditional switch, you can only turn them on and off and the light’s temperature will not be saved. You have no other control of the lights features. The app unlocks all of the lights features. The remote turns the lights on and off and can dim them. The lights were installed on my unfinished ceiling using cans. There was no need to use drywall. They secured right in the cans. They were very easy to install and also add to add and group in the app. The app allows you to group the light, adjust their temperature, color and brightness and even use preset moods. I like them. They are very modern and give you a lot of control options. I used them in a new install on an unfinished ceiling, but I am sure that they can be used in remodels as well. I am very happy with these lights.

BAD mounting brackets, a liability light fell, lights work great, Amazon product videos a problem
By RealPerson on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2024
The lights do work well, the application could use some improvements. Note the lights were humming and I had to remove prior dimmer switch that worked fine with LED. These do not work properly with a dimmer switch. I hard wired and had to buy phillips light switch v2. Which works. The mounting brackets that are 3 flanged metal tabs. So you insert and turn and hope they all turn and "lock" in place. However it's a bit of luck and chance that all three will have equal tension on insertion and when turned, so they might not all expand and turn. Update, after one week a light did fall out and was hanging by the wire. it's a really poor design. Further updated, I now understand that the videos on amazon websites above the reviews are sales commission earning videos DEVOID of truthful and real users-So that added to the problem as a couple of the videos show the other models with metal flaps. WHICH it turns out do NOT work with the cans, those flat lights only work with non canned sockets. Why not just use those? well they cost more and then I have to rewire all the ceiling lights as they don't use the same wired connector. YUP. Shame on Amazon for allowing "influencers" to pollute these pages with generic lies and sales videos who don't use or actually really setup and use the products. DO NOT watch the videos on amazon pages as those people get paid if you buy a product. I have no problem with that on other platforms or their "stores" but when people have hundreds and thousands of views of every home product-they just film them in the box or holding them with generic and often times WRONG information. That's not helping the customers and contributes to false information. As was the case here. those videos are just generic sales driven videos-they are not there to provide correct or useful information-it's generic and not helpful and they make money and lead to poor experiences. The videos showing the metal flaps-are not on here. Also Philips website is almost devoid of any real info on how these mount or real life problems and solutions. Lights works pretty great, A shockingly poorly designed mounting system. replacing these 4 lights turned into many hours and days, with replacing switch/ordering, light falling, trying to get tech support. Pretty simple should be easier. do not watch videos on amazon above the reviews as they are only sales fake videos seeking commission. They are not real customers, as they have false, generic and misinformation on the products. Note: Contacting Phillips, awaiting response. They said that's how it is, ultimately they said since it was a used purchase from amazon there is no warranty. ok, fair, they are new but used. Still the design for mounting is a bad design.
