Incredibly Sturdy

I'm familiar with the Bora Centipede line, having looked at them any number of times over the last few years, but to-date have bypassed them in favor of other solutions such as sawhorses and cobbled together supports as needed. But opportunity knocked when the CT10 came available to me so I could give it a good going over. First, the CT10/36" height version is a bit heavier than what you typically will see set up in the local woodworking supply store. It's high and it's long. It also takes more fiddling to open and, in particular, to close. It's jiggly when first opened. But OMG is the thing strong and steady! Since I happen to be replacing the top on my wife's sewing table, I have a heavy 60" butcher block top in hand to use with the CT10. Plopping that on the Bora's legs instantly turns the extended jello leg structure to something easily rivaling a solid bench and definitely more solid than any sawhorse setups I've used. Using ply instead of the butcher block top is also fine, but I have to say that the solid top feels extra secure. I have no plans to test the claimed 3700 lb weight bearing capacity, but I have no doubt that it would easily hold well over a ton, at least if the load were static. Unfortunately, I can't speak to its performance with added side loading, but I can say that it still feels very solid and the fact that there are multiple legs involved would seem to mitigate risk, especially on the long axis. Its 36" leg length yields a countertop height work surface. For me, that's good for a lot of routine processing, especially panel glue-ups, sanding, and parts finishing. The size of a CT10 setup with a large sheet of ply also makes an excellent planning surface (drawings, blueprints, etc.). Assembly, perhaps, for smaller items, especially multiples. The only downside I see for me is the fussiness in closing the leg set, which has not been my experience with the smaller Bora Centipede leg sets I've examined in stores. I'm sure I'll get better at it and perhaps there's a trick to it I don't understand yet, but right now it's a bit of an aggravation. I would not recommend this for setup on bare ground, unless it is very solid and level. Other trade-offs that may or may not be important to you include the inability to add under shelves or integrate with other table and bench systems, or for use in extending tool surfaces (unless they happen to match the height). A much better and more serious tool than I previously gave it credit. A big win for my shop and it is already in regular use days after receiving it. We are also planning to use it as a processing table during canning season, when it will be a Godsend when processing a few hundred pounds of tomatoes.

Arrived damaged

I think this could be a great workbench but unfortunately I couldn’t use the one I bought. I bought this to use as a table at my farmers market booth since the items I sell are heavy. I was excited to use it but as soon as I set it up I noticed 4 of the metal circles where you attach the top were very bent out of shape so I could not secure the tops that I bought to go with it. The orange things that secure the tops to this would not turn at all due to the metal being so bent out of shape. With extreme force I got one to turn but later I could not for the life of me get it off. I had to borrow someone’s tools to force it off which took me about an hour just to remove. The other ones that weren’t bent were easy to secure but those 4 bent ones would not budge. I had to run out last minute and buy a heavy duty table to use at the market instead which is unfortunate because I liked the idea of this being compact and not taking up so much space in my car.
