Energizer WeatheReady Floating Headlamp (w/batteries)

I was looking forward to using this on an upcoming camping trip. I love the waterproof feature, as well as it having a built in float, should we lose it in the water. It arrived in a compact box with no plastic packaging—this I truly appreciate. Inside is the headlamp unit, a box of 3 AAA batteries, and the band. I inserted the batteries and pressed the power button but wasn’t able to get it to turn on. I did this a couple more times and still wasn’t able to get the light to turn on. What I did notice is how warm the unit got. The batteries were very warm, as was the casing. I promptly removed Ed the batteries and am now awaiting a replacement. It seems mine is an isolated incident as others haven’t noted this same problem. I’ll be back to update my review once the new unit arrives, but for now, it’s a 1-star item as it doesn’t work.
