Works on rats and chipmunks, more easily and safely than traditional traps

This is a huge upgrade over the standard wooden base rat traps. With the deep bait cup it's much easier to bait. I did learn that it's better to put just a tiny bit of bait deep in the very bottom of the bait holder, because it forces the rat (or chipmunk) to really stick their face in, which positions them perfectly for the kill bar. When the bait holder is completely full, it's possible for them to get a quick lick and still escape, even if they trigger the trap. It's also MUCH easier to cock the trap, without risk to the fingers

These traps don't work well.

Victor usually makes good products, and maybe I got a couple bum units from a bad production batch, but these traps do not work well. It seems the triggers are too heavy. I can depress the platform an eighth of an inch or so and not set off the trap. So rats can literally stand on the trigger and not set it off. For days now rats have been eating the peanut butter from the bait cup without setting off the trap. And this has happened with three traps consistently. I also noticed the rats will approach the trap from the rear, eat the bait, and leave unscathed, fat, and happy. They come back for more the next day. I tried shaving down the plastic catch but that doesn't help much, either. And I shouldn't have to modify the design to make it work.
