Lights are what divide us from the animals. Except for the bioluminescent ones. Those jerkfaces.

We've half-mastered the art of making living things glow. We can grow tomatoes, and lobsters, and sheep, and possibly (if we dared) we could make a glowing human being. But is that going to help you walk to the car after sunset? Are you going to grow those glowing tomatoes, or start two thin lobster tanks beside your walkway, or train sheep to wake up and come running when you snap your fingers, or hire some glowing dude to run naked up and down your lawn?

What you want are powerful motion sensing lights that you can hook up and forget about, which will account for both movement AND heat to prevent stray activations. What you want are LED lights that don't require a whole lot of changing, and might actually last for the rest of your life. What you want is technology, not biology. Or, to put it another way, nobody's ever going to call the cops because there's an LED light running around in your driveway.

You can't say the same thing about a naked glowing dude.
