A very nice midlevel detector.

A very nice entry level metal detector. Easy and rather intuitive once you start to use it, this is perfect for the beginner, or midlevel enthusiasts. A professional metal detector? No, but more than adequate for most uses. If new to using a metal detector, take some time to familiarize yourself with the different functions. While the LCD screen seems a bit "busy" at first, the functions will quickly become apparent. . When you first turn it on keep the coil away from the ground as you initialize it and, once initialized, it will put you in the most common mode for searching for most metals. A quick press of the buttons will change the mode from all metals to PASTURE, PATKS and finally SAND.... This will discriminate and isolate certain false signals you might have. One unique function is the Pinpoint (PP) mode that I really like. This mode helps to localize the "treasure." When using in normal mode you should sweep back and forth continually to find metals. When a tone is heard, it will not register if you stop sweeping and hold the wand still. This will only give you a general idea of the location. Once you confirm some metal is in the area, you can change to PP mode to further localize the specific area the object is located. However, as you dig, you might still need to have a pointer (very inexpensive) to properly pinpoint small metal items. The maximum depth I found is only about 6-8 inches from the coil and, the signal does degrade the further below the surface (a silver half dollar might be detected as "JUNK" when beyond a few inches). Of note is the very nice and sturdy folding shovel included. Much better than many manufacturers who include a cheap, plastic trowel, Some areas needing improvement: The instructions for putting this together are poor but, just take your time and it will come together. The Control Head Screen is fixed and cannot be adjusted which made it awkward and hard to see if holding comfortably. to compensate I had to hold at arm's length, straight in front of me to properly see the screen which, was awkward and uncomfortable. Putting on the LCD control head requires a screwdriver to screw it on and then, when putting it away, having to unscrew it. It would be better to develop a quick release. When putting the detector away, and breaking it down, while the coil will fold up and fit in the included carry bag, the section with the control panel will not fit unless you unscrew and remove the controller. Overall, this is a very efficient and easy to use detector.

Hoped it'd be more than it is.

When it said "Professional" Metal Detector, I had hope. I'm afraid once I got it though .. I was disappointed. For what they're charging & advertising; it falls short. I just wanted a quality metal detector. I feel like it shouldn't be this hard. The screen should be tablet like and it should be clear if you've found something. Instead the screen is like the the handheld games of the 90's where stuff just lit up. Our car stereos are all touch screen & cost less than this (some). It's time metal detectors get an upgrade! In my opinion 😉
